Since this post is filler anyways, a memorable moment in the Ducks 2010-2011 season. Selanne scores with 6 seconds left to tie it, and Fowler wins it in overtime:

Angus said earlier in this thread he expects Palmeiri to make the team, but after crunching the numbers I'm not sure if that's a possibility. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but here we go:

According to capgeek.com for the numbers:
    Getzlaf: 5,750,000 Cap: 5,325,000
    Perry: 5,375,000 Cap: 5,325,000
    Ryan: 5,562,500 Cap: 5,100,000
    Blake: 3,000,000 Cap: 4,000,000
    Koivu: 2,500,000 Cap: 2,500,000
    Cogliano: 2,150,000 Cap: 2,390,000
    Parros: 875,000 Cap: 875,000
    McMillan: 665,000(+210,000) Cap: 875,000
    Beleskey: 625,000 Cap: 737,500
    Sexton: 550,000 Cap: 550,000

    Visnovsky: 5,000,000 Cap: 5,600,000
    Beauchemin: 3,650,000 Cap: 3,800,000
    Lydman: 3,000,000 Cap: 3,000,000
    Sbisa: 1,200,000 Cap: 2,175,000
    Foster: 1,800,000 Cap: 1,800,000
    Fowler: 900,000(+500,000) Cap: 1,400,000
    Brookbank: 800,000 Cap: 750,000

    Hiller: 4,500,000 Cap: 4,500,000
    Ellis: 1,500,000 Cap: 1,500,000

    Buyouts:
    Oystrick: 183,334 Cap: 183,334

    Total Salaries:
    49,585,834
    Total Bonuses:
    710,000
    Total Cap Hit:
    52,385,834
    Internal Cap:
    56,000,000
    Salary Cap:
    63,400,000

Assuming Selanne gets the same deal as last year:

    Ryan - Getzlaf - Perry
    Blake - Koivu - Selanne
    McMillan - Cogliano - Palmieri
    Beleskey - Bonino - Parros
    Gordon, Sexton

    Visnovsky - Lydman
    Fowler - Beauchemin
    Sbisa - Foster
    Brookbank

    Hiller
    Ellis

    Selanne: 3,250,000(+1,250,000) Cap: 4,500,000
    Gordon: 525,000 Cap: 537,500
    Palmieri: 900,000(+175,000) Cap: 1,025,000
    Bonino: 693,000 Cap: 693,000

    Total Salaries:
    54,953,834
    Total Bonuses:
    2,135,000
    Total Cap Hit:
    59,141,334
    Total NHL Cap:
    63,400,000

I'm not exactly sure how the bonus clause's work, but if everyone hits them then the total salary hit would be: 57,088,834 which is obviously over 56,000,000. If you take out Palmieri it's right at 56,013,834. So if Selanne basically takes a slight dip, then that will probably be our team, and we shouldn't expect any more signings.

Once again, not sure exactly how bonus clauses work, so if someone could help me out there that would be great. But I would assume Selanne and Fowler will get them which only leaves McMillan and Palmieri's as question marks.

That was just a sample example, it's not real. I'm almost confident Selanne will be back, but this is all that's available right now.

The latest news on Teemu Selanne and his decision to either return to the Ducks or retire is … well, there’s no news
Ducks GM Bob Murray has been in communication with Selanne regularly this off-season and remains confident that his winger wants to play as long as his knee right.

Yeah someone should delete that Selanne comment from Pengwin's spreadsheet, it threw me as well.

    Selanne:
"I will make the decision in September. The decision will be delayed, because this way is fair to the franchise and the team." Selänne said.

Corey Perry has sent text messages to Selänne urging him to continue his career. Also Ryan Getzlaf recently urged Selänne to return on Ducks website.

"Boys are expecting me to return. I have tried to tell them for many years now that this seems to be last season, but they do not believe me." Selänne said laughing"

A nice write-up on Patrick Maroon:
    http://ducks.ocregister.com/2011/08/...09/#more-69709

http://twitter.com/#!/icemancometh/s...53501485154304 Just a testimony to how fast we as dobber users can find information.

A few reasons why I think Selanne will be back:
-Ducks open the season in Finland
-Ducks will be playing in Winnipeg
-Koivu is signed for one more year
-Coaching staff/players seem pretty optimistic about it.
-Ducks made the playoffs last year

I read that the only thing holding him up is his concern over his knee and if it can hold up for another season:

Ducks Coach Randy Carlyle received an extension today through the 2013-2014 season.
    http://ducks.ocregister.com/2011/08/...2013-14/69923/

    More on Selanne's decision
Murray said he spoke with Selanne on Friday and said that ”he’s been struggling a bit” with his problematic left knee following arthroscopic surgery in June back in Finland.
“I think he was getting depressed with the whole thing and then I think he had a few days where it wasn’t bugging him,” Murray said Monday. “I think he intends to go pretty hard this week with the bigger boys that are there in Helsinki. We are scheduled to speak after this week is over.”

Carlyle also discussed Hiller in that interview. Said that he's feeling great, and is in a "good place". Bodes well!

Via many media outlets Hiller is symptom free and should be ready for training camp.
