This article gives me hope too -- I just hope he doesn't draw it out. Last year's injury made him a tougher player to hang on to. I'd need to know by early August to hang on to him again.

wow did anyone else know this?

I was reading Behind the Moves and when Mike Comrie was in contract dispute with EDM, one of the leading teams was us, the Ducks, and Lowe and Murray had struck a deal but it fell through because Lowe wanted Comrie to give back some of his bonuses from his ELC. The player that Bryan Murray would have given up for Comrie was Corey Perry! Am I glad that didn't happen, phew!

Can anyone in tune with the Ducks provide some info on Etem? Im pretty high on him, but we're moving to a 10 keeper system and unless he produces this year, i can afford to wait a year to scoop him in our draft.(no farm team). I dont want to miss out, but i also donr want to waste a valuable keeper spot on him. Thanks in advance for any info!

    D: seabrooke, Subban,wizniewski,garrison, Carle
    G: Niemi, Fleury,

    G/A-1 pt PIM- .25pts
    Win-2pts Shutouts- 5pts(2+3)
    Keep 10. Top 13 count (4 d, 1 g, 6 Frwd and next highest-any position)

Jeff will probably give you more info on him, but I'll chime in and say that he's definitely one of the top Ducks prospects. In fact, he's probably their top prospect on wing, even above guys that have already seen time like Palmieri and Smith-Pelly. He typically plays RW, which is tough when the team already has Perry and Selanne in front of him, but he is talented enough to make it this year and make an impact (if he shifts to LW or if Selanne slides to the third line). If he stays on the third line, he'll show flashes of the player he can be, but this year will primarily be an adjustment period.

He should definitely be on the squad next season in at least a third line role if not a top-six spot.

That's great, man. Thanks so much for responding and for the info!

Posted this in another thread but I am not a big fan of Etem as a pro and he is not as highly regarded in the hockey community as people would think. The majority of sources I've come across prefer Rickard Rakell and Kyle Palmieri over him, and some even prefer William Karsson although he is farther out. He's probably not even a first round pick in 2010 if he wasn't from California.

I definitely prefer Palimieri over him at this point and probably Rakell as well who is better all-around and has better pro potential. Rakell probably doesn't matter though as he is projected to play centre.

I think he needs AHL seasoning and he'll probably start there next season. Playing him on a third line isn't ideal for the team or for Etem.

cool, thanks Ev. Certainly seems to be mixed feelings about Etem and the impact he'll have and when. I noticed in the guide that Dobber doesn't include him, yet he's listed as a possible Calder as well. I think I'll end up passing on him this year and using that pick elsewhere to see how/if/when Etem develops.

No final decision yet but underage junior Richard Rakell is a possibility to be on ANA's 23-man roster tomorrow. TBD.

Palmieri - Ryan - Selanne was the Ducks best line tonight. Palmieri potted 2 on his birthday. Selanne looks amazing out there still. Ducks need someone better than Beleskey on that top line. Etem looked pretty good.
