Can someone help me understand the Derek grant situation?

He was placed on waivers-cleared but played last night?

Added to that Fantrax shows a blue flag and no team association listed next to his name. With my league having fow and short handed TOI I have him on my team...

He was waived but was never demoted. Why someone at Fantrax classified him as a free agent is beyond me but probably a mistake that will be fixed today.

seems like an unfortunate falling through the cracks on the updates on Grant's status . He wasnt claimed so he should at least have ANA beside his name

Anaheim and Troy Terry made their arbitration submissions — team: $4.5M, player: $8M

Meeting is set for tomorrow. Another huge gap between the two sides. I dont know if this one gets settled before hand.

For me, this isn't a terrible move for ANA.
Their main focus is to put a number on Trevor Zegras, long-term.
They are going to pony up and pay him.
And they want their team to *pop* with all their kids - and save cash for that.

If Terry comes in at some number, say $6.5m.
Then offering Zegras a long-term deal where he gets $7.75m (Svech $$$), say, seems like a big haul for Zegras.
AND - there's no "comparable" - since an arbitrator determined amount on Terry and the Ducks (let's say) negotiated amount with Zegras agent.
Apples & oranges.

But if they (ANA) do their own contract with Terry at, say $7.5m...
Then what do they have to offer a guy with MORE potential (Zegras)... $8.5m?, $9m.
Then - does this upset the balance of the dressing room? - to have the younger, lesser-scoring player (Zegras) being given more money than the older higher-scoring player (Terry)?

I see this one - different from other teams - working out fine for ANA.
Terry is a nice player - but you want your FIRST, big, LONG-TERM number to be on your most dynamic young player.
They need to secure Zegras first... not Terry.

In player elected arbitration cases (like this one), the club can walk away if the settlement is greater than $4,538,958, the player will be a UFA.

I don't think there's a number that Anaheim legit walks away from with Terry though.

What are you watching for most in Anaheim?

Lot's of talk around Drysdale, but I'm looking at who ends up being his D partner, specifically liking Mintyukov. Make for some sneaky value.

Zegras is also at 180 games played and prime for a breakout year.

im also watching Gibson / Dostal situation, there is good chance Dostal is a starter if Gibson gets his wish...

and last is Mactavish making a case to be next one for the Ducks to wear a "C"

Who would take him though? I had some good spots for him before free agency, but I forget what those were (and I think doesn't make sense anymore).

Somebody with an albatross contract at another position who believes in him to rebound. I'd much rather have an albatross skater contract, you play lines worth of skaters.

With Gibson’s contract, I just don’t see anyone trading for him unless Anaheim retains a decent chunk of salary. Not out of the realm of possibility, but I assume if it were an option it would have already happened by now.

Ducks have a bright future. Zegras, Drysdale, Carlsson, and a great prospect pool. Gibson might be fantasy relevant again, but it may take 3 seasons if he doesn’t get traded.
