Poor guy. At least he'll get some games in with the Moose. Berdin's had a real up and down season, so Comrie can step in and provide some relief.

Now that the Jets are out, can we at least get an update on Scheifele's injury?

I read somewhere that Laine had a sprained wrist, Appleton did something to his shoulder. I did not read anything about Scheifele's injury except so none of the three are expected to affect next season.

Is it just me or based on all of the stats in Rob Vollman's charts, as well as the player profiles in terms of their skillset, that the Jets top 2 forward lines should be:

    Ehlers-Shceifele-Connor
    Laine-Stastny-Wheeler

The two best passers on the team and two players with a defensive conscience to play with the one-dimensional Laine and freeing up Ehlers and his excellent IPP and corsi numbers to play on a revamped, fast top line with Scheifele and Connor (who would benefit from Ehler's defensive conscience too).

Contracts be damned I think this is the best thing for the team: Wheeler to second line and Ehlers to the first.

While to some a minor detail, I believe handedness of those wingers is the issue at hand here as Connor Ehlers are lefties while Laine Wheeler are righties. Maurice might/probs want his wingers on their natural sides.

I agree and Ehlers has been moved to the first line while Connor has been moved to LW2. I dont see Wheeler getting moved from the top line , maybe in time.

How long will this last though...
We've been down this road before where Ehlers was placed there and actually produced great numbers, just to be demoted again.

Demoted to the 2nd line at the worst, and they have a decent 2C to play with.

I know but given their skill I believe that each of Connor or Ehlers can play their off wings just fine. I just think it gives them a different, faster look on the top line and it lets them support Laine to play offense while two defensive-ly conscious players make sure his turnovers don't end up in the back of the net.

Regardless of handedness, I think that's the future top line, with Laine's contract unsure and Wheeler's age and eventually declining footspeed. I'd like to see it try.

Connor is a finisher. Ehlers is not. I've made this analogy before but Ehlers is like a juiced up version of Lehkonen. Great skater, seems to think the game really well, but just can't put the puck in the net on a regular basis. Connor has a better shooting % AND shoots the puck more. I can't see him off the top line for long.

    Ehlers last four seasons:

    16/17 - 82GP - 25G 64pts
    17/18 - 82GP - 29G 60pts
18/19 - 62GP - 21G 37pts (safe to say, if he had not missed 20 games this season, he'd be above 25 goals again)
    19/20 - 71GP - 25G 58pts

Lekhonen in those same four years has had a one season above 30 points. ONE!!!! I dont see how you can compare Ehlers to Lehkonen in the same sentence, and also how you can say that Ehlers is NOT a finisher. Over those same four seasons, Ehlers has scored almost as many goals in those seasons as Lehkonen has points. LOL! Sometimes you offer solid advice. Sad to say, this is not one of those times. Ehlers is a finisher. Lehkonen needs a lot more than just juice if you're going to compare those two.

At least I agree with you when you say Connors is a finisher. That he is.

Sarcasm. Ehlers is a finisher with limited icetime and he's not the prime option on their PP or even on 5on5 when he's on the ice. I def think he's a "finisher"
