Anyone believe theres a spot this year for Logan stanley? He seems like a multi cat beast with offensive potential like Tyler Myers. Possible replacement for big buff?

Trouba gone, chiarot gone. I think theres a future stud in logan stanley?

I was wondering this as well. You have to hope that Chevy thinks he is ready to step
in and play a role. He has let a lot of players go and didn’t even qualify Beaulieu.

Right now... there appears to be plenty of room if he's ready. With Gardiner still floating and trade rumours... those spots could fill quickly.

I don't think there's much chance Stanley plays for the Jets, apart from maybe a few games, and I'm not sure even that much. Another season playing big minutes in the AHL is best for him. The Jets have a couple/few defensemen with the Moose who have a bit of NHL experience and are older who would get games before Stanley.

Beaulieu wasn't qualified because Chevy was able to sign him for cheaper at $1M.

I'm wondering about Samberg, once his season is done. If he's as good as I'm hearing, he'll be a nice add whenever the time comes. With Samberg and Stanley in the pipeline, I wonder if the Jets will just take their lumps with what they've got this season. After some growing pains, the team could have a real nice young (and cheap) D corps in a couple years.

This team getting younger doesn't do them any favours. It's basically Wheeler and Buff and the kids. They need a better mix and especially on D, where experience is likely the most important asset at the position, which is why so many aren't successful before the age of 23-24 or so..

I think they need to work a trade but the chemistry of the group (heck, maybe it needs a shakeup) is starting to shift quite a bit with all the new faces.

They needed Trouba but he never wanted to stay. Pity. He's exactly the player they need.

Interesting. It’s because Maurice is a bad coach. Until they get rid of him they’ll never pull it together.

The Jets are too heavy in forwards and not enough good D coming up to balance their lineup.

Too expensive to trade for top 4 D so they have to hope Stanley develops into one. I see Nike only as a specialist. A good one but not necessarily a top pairing guy. Poolman? 5 or 6... they need to hope. Way too young a D corps. Losing Trouba with no backup plan reeeeeeally hurts.

Do they go with Morrissey and Byfuglien on the same pair, or try to spread the wealth?

    Beaulieu-Byfuglien
    Morrissey-Pionk
    Kulikov-Niku
    Poolman + Stanley extras

Seems like the best they could do. I think Morrissey is probably the best bet to carry around Pionk while Byfuglien can certainly do alright with Beaulieu as a partner, I think. Maybe that top-4 can stay afloat, and then you've got Kulikov-Niku, which would need a good bit of sheltering. I don't really know about Poolman or Stanley, but it seems like Stanley is the best bet to develop into something. Poolman kinda just is what he is, organizational depth.

This is a pretty good assessment, apart from Poolman. Provided he doesn't have a recurrence of health issues, I really think he's going to surprise people. He may not have 50 points in him, but he's solid. The only thing he lacks is physicality, but he's a very smart and all around skilled player. I think he's got top 4 potential once he gets going at the NHL level.

He's going to be 23 at the beginning of next season, so I'm not sure there's much room to grow from what he is at this point. He should be an effective 3rd pair defensemen who can contribute on the PP.
