My guess is Dvorak moves to wing. Richardson has always been a 3-4 C - he'll shuffle down to #4 slot if necessary. he is 34 afterall.
It's pretty common for rookies to start on the wing and after a year or two move to C. IE: R. Thomas STL last year (likely on W again this year); Trocheck Fla.

IMO - Hayton is going to have to blow the lights out of his camp to make this team this season. Merkley, Fischer, Garland all have the inside track on the final F spots entering camp.

I would really temper expectations on Hayton this year... to the point I would expect next season to be the first he really starts becoming relevant.
he should get 9 games... but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes back to Soo a full year back in the OHL where he missed half of last season
Great analysis on Arizona's center depth chart situation, Luca! Didnt know that Dvorak played as a wing in the past. I was pretty sure that hes locked for a 3th line center minutes....

He shows up C, LW on capfriendly. Pretty sure his rookie year was spent mostly on the wing.
They have 4 Centres - Stepan 6.5; Schmaltz 5.85; Dvorak 4.45; Soderberg 4.75 all making solid coin - Something has to give. He may very well end up the 3rd line C, but then Soderberg moves to the wing. camp will be interesting to see how Tocchet figures this out. Lots of options

It's too bad Hayton can't ply his trade in the AHL, he already had the third highest points-per-game average in the OHL last season as an 18-year old the whole campaign (June birthday). He's got nothing left to prove / learn in juniors, but it doesn't appear there's a spot for him to have an impact on the NHL roster. I'm wondering if he would be better served as an NHL third line winger or something as opposed to a dominant 1C carrying his junior team in all situations ...

Does Keller will stay at the right wing on the second line or he will replace Stepan as center of the first line with Kessel or left winger of Stepan and Kessel?

I'd bet he stays on the wing. They have several true C's on this team.
He's spent most of the last two years on a wing.
I fully expect Keller & Kessel to be united & split up frequently throughout the season.
Unless they put together some ungodly chemistry.
I think it wise Tocchet splits up his two best wingers and runs them on separate lines

Ya I don't see Keller playing center in the NHL anytime soon. As lucafen mentioned, they are keep down the middle as it is. Even the guy who most expect to be playing center with them (Schmaltz) might be on the wing from time to time depending on how he does in the faceoff dot.

It also seems like more and more teams are going with two guys that can take faceoffs with opposite hands on the same line so they always have someone on the ice using their strong side. I haven't looked at handedness of this roster - but if that's something Tocchet believes in, that might help figure out the lines - who's in/who's out of the C position

Arizona could shift Schmaltz to the LW. This doesn't seem so bad, especially given his major struggles in the faceoff circle.

    Keller-Stepan-Kessel
    Schmaltz-Dvorak-Hinostroza
    Grabner-Soderberg-Garland
    Crouse-Richardson-Fischer

Kessel and Hinostroza probably swap back and forth between those top lines, as I remember Tocchet saying something about the idea of Schmaltz/Kessel as a duo. Plus, they'll wanna spread the love throughout the lineup if possible.

On a completely unrelated note, I'm not sure where Hayton fits into this group.

Unfortunately, I don't think he does this season. It's possible he steals the spot from Garland, but while possible, I don't see it happening. There's also Merkley lurking. If not for injuries last year he's on your depth chart instead of Garland. Right now he's the odds as the last cut/13th F

Yeah, I wasn't sure where to put Merkley in this setup. He was probably RW5 but in the mix with Garland/Fischer.

I get the feeling Merkley finds himself in the AHL to start the season just to get max ice time and make up some of last season.
He'll be one of the early call ups and probably never looks back

Similar situation to Capobianco, then, as both players probably could have established themselves as full-time NHL players last season if it weren't for injuries.

Pretty much. Capo is a nice under the radar MC option for leagues that allow prospects to be moved up and down. Should chip in some decent numbers as a 6/7D
