Finally got my first pick in- and I'm already having buyers remorse with Campbell. What finally decided it for me was- I'm pretty set at forward and taking a young forward that sees the lineup soon will only cause me to cut or trade someone else...there were no defense men that really stood out and made me want to jump and grab them. With Dubnyk and Turco I really need some help at goalie, not just now but long term- I'm still hoping Turco finds his way into a good backup spot this year and sees the ice.

Then it came down to which goalie prospect to take- and I couldn't decide between the guys left, it came down to I think Campbell has the most upside, and is at least a few years away so it gives me time to shape my roster without having to worry about him hitting 50 games and taking up a roster spot.

I had just typed up a little blurb on my pick with Campbell but it looks like it didn't post... oh well, basically it was a really tough choice to make- I needed goalie help more than anything and went with him because I think he has the most upside- and is a few years away so it gives me time to shape my roster without having to worry about him taking up a roster spot for some time.

With my second round pick (2.6 I believe) I sort of went against what I said in the previous post and went with a forward who may be on an active roster all season- Nino Niederreiter. I'm hoping he goes back to juniors for another season but I'm not sure if that will happen. I was hoping to go with either Holtby, Lindback, or Lehner and double up on goalies with the first 2 picks but they all went off the board and no defense-man really stood out so I did what I did in the big draft and simple went with best player available.

Niederreiter is an excellent pick at 34th. After taking Holtby with the 26th pick and had decided to take a forward with my 2nd pick, the 31st, I had narrowed down my choices to Strome or Niederreiter.
