Start Schneider or not?

Ok, I'm up 6-3 right now in my Yahoo league for the championship. My goalie stats are 3 wins, 1.95gaa, .930svp and 0 shutouts. The other guy is 4 wins, 2.49gaa, .925svp, 0 shutouts.

He has two starts left tomorrow and I have none, so I'm conceding the wins cat. I have started my minimum 3 games, so I can bench Schneids tonight at home agains EDM and hope that the other guy's goalies have a couple 3-4 goal games. Since he has started 5 so far, I think even a 2 goal game for him won't hurt me that bad because he has more stats to average out.

If I start Schneider and he gives up 2 or less, I probably win the championship. If I start him and he craps the bed, I probably lose it because the other guy will just bench his goalies tomorrow. What do I do??

Meh for me this is an easy decision. I would start him. You're overthinking it, Schneider playing behind the Canucks against Edmonton and you have reason to start him. Gotta risk it to get the biscuit

The other cats are in my signature. I'm up 10-7 wins, down 14-18 assists, down 1-2 +/-, up 42-21 PIM, up 8-5 PPP and up 4-2 GWG. I think I'm a lock for PIM and GWG. Probably will lose goalie wins and assists. So despite my lead, it's really close. I have HSed, Burrows and Kesel going tonight, so I could kill it if VAN scores big. Tomorrow is a wash - we both start 11 guys.

I get where you're coming from. Tbh I regret Not backing the decision to start luo, don't know what I was thinking that day as I normally don't condone hiding goalies If there's still something to play for, especially a goalie like luongo
That being said I feel that Schneider against Edmonton is as sure a thing as it comes, Edmonton just isn't doing it lately and the Canucks show no sign of slowing down. Of course there's always a chance that he craps the bed but if it were me I would make this start 10/10 times. Good luck!

Meh, when people post goalie questions they just ask your opinions. I'm pretty sure that's understood by the posters of the thread.

You're right though, nobody can answer it correctly 100% of the time. All you can do is just provide adequate reasoning, and sometimes the opposite happens. Just like gambling, a 99% favourite still loses 1% of the time.

Oh well, I'm still pulling for Schneider though, all is far from lost. Hopefully he can shut the door for the last two periods.

I'm sorry man, I feel absolutely terrible (even though it must be nothing close to what you are feeling). Feel free to neg rep me or something, cuz I feel like I should be penalized somehow for something this bad. Schneider has actually been great this game, just a couple of squeaky goals that have managed to find the holes.

I was just discussing this with my brother who lives in Vancouver and he said that I was stupid for betting on a team with nothing to win against a team with nothing to lose.
In my defense though...11 game losing streak for Edmonton in which they score 2 or less goals in 10 of them, and they've been playing with nothing to lose for awhile. I dunno...maybe this is just one of those days. Just to note though, I still stand by my decision. I just feel terribly for how this turned out for you.

To be honest I would have given the same advice, with how awful Edmonton has looked....crappy luck

No sweat - I'm the one who asked, and I'm the one who pulled the trigger. All is not lost. Today's the last day and I'm still up 5-4. But even the cats I'm winning are close. He rolls 11 guys to my 10, but I should do ok. What probably hurt me more than Schneids was the fact that I only got 2 points from my trio of HSed, Kesler and Burrows. The good news is that he rolled Rinne and Emery, who gave up 3 and 4. So I am still winning in GAA, 2.45 to 2.57. He has 4 G's active, but I think there's a chance that 3 of them won't even start. Roloson, Hiller and Emery are not slated to start. And Elliot against Kipper is a matchup I like. So if Elliot is his only start and gives up a 3-spot, I might actually take back the SVP cat. We will see. Then it's up to my skaters and you're off the hook!

It's all in good fun, right? (Ha! Not really! My wife can't wait until tonight when I can stop obsessing over this. I won my league for 3 straight years. Going for the 4-Peat dynasty!)

I over-thought things and ended up screwing myself out of the title game. Picked up Winnik to try and catch him in A's and his -2 ended up being the difference in the +/- category. If I wouldn't have picked him up, I would've won 4-3 and have been in the finals

At least I went down swinging...and I was missing Parise, Green & Pacioretty so I have hope going forward.
