No conspiracy from me, I've been a Hidden Gems supporter since the start.
I simply thought that if there was a mention in the ramblings at 2PM Eastern and the poll was closing at 5PM Eastern, it would be rushed. This way it gives a proper amount of time to get votes in.
Edit : If anyone was displeased of the way this contest rolled out, feel free to leave comments, and feedback. I personally enjoyed the contest regardless of "name" outcome.

'The Hidden Gems' is cute, I suppose, but Black Aces is a legit hockey term, and totally appropriate for the column in question. Gotta vote Aces - and so should you.
