Name the Farm - Contest
In coordination with the "called up from the minors" column on Wednesdays -
here's your chance to name the DobberHockey Farm Team!
All you need to do is...
1) Become a member of the DobberHockey Forums
2) Post your Entry / Team name in this thread, send a private message, or send it to gates at gemcomdesigns.ca
Easy enough?
The winning name will become immortalized - becoming the official face of the DobberHockey Farm Team as seen in the forums (currently Market Buzz). A creative marketing campaign will surely follow, meaning logos, advertisings and features will all be based off of the chosen entry.
Feel free to go beyond the name and give the entry a hometown, a bio, color scheme etc...
Be creative!
Edit : Contest ends Wednesday March 22nd.
At that time, entries will be chosen and polls will be made. The finalists will then go head to head until one franchise name remains.
The winning entry will be revealed in April's release of the Top 100 Roto Players edition.

On every Wednesday for the last two months, articles have been published on the main page under "Called up from the DobberHockey minors", right?
Well, this very section (like Fantasy Hockey Forum, Blogs & Rants) IS the DobberHockey minors.
At the moment (on the forums), it's called Market Buzz - but that's only a temporary title.
We want an official DobberHockey Farm Team & Franchise name like the Nashville Predators or Sudbury Wolves - but something meaningful to us, the forum folk.
It might take some getting used to, like all new things do, but there is no doubt in my mind that we will witness stellar reports, features and columns from the DobberHockey Farm going forward.
The PG Advised section has become a means to help any member wanting to share articles in hopes of getting called up - everyone is welcome.
The idea stems from a similar contest last season, the one where DobberHockey searched for the best team name for their playoff hockey pool - the eventual winner was "Does DobberHockey Niederreiter".
So what's the point of this contest?
Making this section feel like home to all forum members.
Making this section ours, yours and all newcomers.
This is the beginning of something BIG - we invite one and all to be a part of it.

Choosing "Northern" is good, as it denotes some location without being offensive to any particular place.
My choice would be "Northern Ham Fighters". It comes from a Japanese baseball team, the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters, where the name of the place is actually Hokkaido Nippon Ham, and the team name is Fighters. But I think that Ham should be part of the team name, really.
