Another short story being optioned for a film. I remember this story somewhat and I found it intriguing. Could be decent if done right.

Impressive! That was tricky - several I hadn't see that cover before as well. Still managed to get 31/35. Though annoyed that I could've got nearly perfect - one was a silly mistake and two others just needed to be swapped. I wasn't sure of one the Richard Bachman ones.

Just finished Revival and am about 1/4 through Mr. Mercedes. Revival was not bad but nothing special IMO. Mr. Mercedes is a lot more interesting.

I'm getting Finders Keepers soon, but will be reading the new Dan Simmons (The Fifth Heart) book first.

I just finished Simmons' The Terror, and I liked it a lot. It's a long book and people complain about that, but it seemed to me that I just burned right through it.

If you've read it, how would you say it compares to his other stuff? From what I understand, he can be very hit-or-miss.

Not holding my breath until something more concrete becomes official, but happy the project is not dead yet.

I just finished "On Writing - A Memoir of the Craft" and I loved it. I recommend it if you want to know more about the man and how he writes.

This has the potential to be epic if done right. I really enjoyed the journey of the books.

    Sorry I missed this!

Too long? Not for me - with writers like Simmons, the longer the book is, the more I like it. The Terror is one of my favourite Simmons books (I'm also really interested in early Arctic exploration). Its hard to compare a lot of his stuff because its so broad in terms of genre. There definitely are some that didn't do anything for me.

The Hyperion series - 4 parts spanning centuries. Pretty epic stuff.
Ilium & Olympos - just as good as Hyperion
Drood - different from most of his books but one of my favourites
    Carrion Comfort - classic horror

Agreed. Which is why I'll always be cautiously optimistic. I would hate it to ruin the stories - it really has to be done right or not at all.

Not sure where to place this, but thought this was a good place. Reading the Blumhouse book of nightmares.......~10 short stories.....i really enjoy this type of book as the scenery changes every 70 pages or so. Just about to finish the 1st story. Eli Roth and Ethan Hawke have shared stories in this collection.........worth a try if you are a fan or thriller/ghosts/devils/stephen king genre.

It's been awhile since I've updated this thread and I've probably missed a lot. However, the one thing I'll share is the upcoming Dark Tower movie, which looks like it's happening, finally, in January 2017. In what form is still unknown - from what I've seen - but it appears that it may not go in the order as the books, and perhaps using a combination. I have no idea what this will mean but hopefully it'll be done without ruining the story. Fingers crossed. It's also been announced that Idris Elba will be the Gunslinger, and Matthew McConaughey will be The Man In Black. I believe other roles are being announced/speculated.

I heard about this as well, so i started reading the series again. I'm just finishing the first one now. I'm pretty pumped. Idris Elba is one of my favorite actors ever. I'm very keen to see what he does with the gunslinger role.

Agreed I'm curious on how he'll do in that role. It's been a controversial choice, but perhaps he'll be able to pull it off. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Idris Elba... guaranteed awesome. Mark it down.
