Default Brent Burns

Well on his way to becoming a dominant two-way force. The Wild toyed with him at forward but eventually stuck him at defense and let him grow there.

He has a booming shot, confidence with the puck, and is nasty defensively. I think he has a shot at breaking 15 goals and 40 points this season, while anchoring one of the best defensive clubs in the league.

Add him to my list of favorites, along with Parise, Stempniak, Stastny, and Getzlaf.

Brent Burns intrigues me. He\'s available in my league, and I\'d like to grab him (I don\'t own anyone from MIN).

I\'m not sure who I\'d drop (team in sig) but my question to you is -- why doesn\'t Dobber have him on his list of Top Defensemen?

what defensemen do you have that you could drop for him?

Dobber and I do disagree at times.

Aye, I figured that, but ranked below Pilar? Lars Jonsson? Who is Dustin Byfuglien?

Anyways, my defense is currently Whitney/Timonen/McCabe/Murphy.

I\'m a bit deep in my forward positions, which you can see in my signature. The likely candidates to cut would be Dustin Brown or Brad Boyes.

I\'d think strongly about dumping Brown for Burns.

Boyes looks great on St. Louis and will get 30 goals this season. The Kings beyond the top line have a very inconsistent offense.

Hm...I just picked up Brown as a free agent, since he\'s been doing the top line with Kopitar/Cammalleri. Maybe I\'ll dangle him as trade bait or try a two-for-one so that I can open up a spot for Burns.

that would be a good idea. I just think looking at your team that a 10-15 goal, 40 point defenseman with PIM is more valuable than a 20-25 goal, 50-60 point RW with PIM.

I\'ll see what I can do, but our league doesn\'t count PIM\'s...

i\'m not 100 percent sold on burns. 2 goals so far this year...not exactly crashing out of the gate. I picked him up when weber got hurt, but dropped him soon after due to lack of production. My D are :

weber, e johnson, j johnson, r whitney, f beauchemin, c murphy, k bieksa.

I just don\'t know if I see a spot for Burns in there. Do I drop Beauchemin when weber comes back from IR?

I picked up Burns a few weeks ago thanks to this site (probably thanks to a tip in one of Dobber\'s ramblings). Most of my fellow pool members thought I was insane.

Sure, 2 G and 0 A in 5 games isn\'t that great, but I am still hopping to get a 40 point season out of him. Plus, he\'s only 22 years old.

Also, my league counts GWG and both his goals have been game winners. That alone makes him fully worth it.
