    Default Connor Hellebuyck

    Morning,

The owner that has Hellebuyck has announced that he's available.

I've had a hard time equating proper value to goalies, especially someone like Hellebuyck who is on a currently struggling team, but has been touted as someone special for awhile (and should be the bona fide starter going forward).

How do others assess goalie value when it comes to trades? And, more specifically, what kind of player(s) would you be willing to give up to have someone like Hellebuyck for the next x years (as long as he's keeper worthy).

    Thanks!

First off, what qualifies as a rookie keeper for you?

With your goalie situation, I would be all over him.
Lehner straight up. Varly straight up. Either of those would be winners for you. As for skater values, Drouin or Rielly is about where I would start, but to get him you would likely have to part with Pasta+. Your skaters seem to be either just too good to want to deal for Helle, or just not good enough.

Ah, sorry. I should have included that. Goalie rookie keeper is 100 games played or less. Skater rookie is 164 games played or less.

The other GM doesn't want a goalie (as he's stacked there).

Hmm, yeah, I kinda feel the same as you. Skater quality has been my strength in this league (goalie's being the polar opposite).

I'm not adverse to dealing Pasta, as I feel pretty Boston heavy.

    That all makes sense.
So yes, I think Pasta is the best spot to start the conversation.

    Sweet, thanks Eskimo.

I'll start the conversation with the other owner. I'll probably throw another message onto this thread in a day or 2 too get a second/third/fourth opinion on what trade presents itself.

Any thoughts on Hellboy vs Andersen? (Same guy has both and is open to trading either).

I would go after Hellboy. Andersen is a good goalie but the Leafs rebuild is behind the Jets. Hellboy is having a tough go right now, but things will change for the better as time goes on.

I like both actually and I think there's a valid argument in favour of Andersen...
The Leafs are further in their rebuild than what we thought even if the Jets, admittedly, have a much better defence core.
If the price is relatively equal, I would still go for Hellebuyck, but if you can get a discount on Andersen I would strongly consider it.
Hellboy has the hype, but Andersen is the undisputed #1 on a rising team...

It depends on the price. If it was the same, then I would go for Helle. If Helle is more expensive, then I would be very happy with Andersen.

    A bit of an update.

I managed to trade Silfverberg, Severson & a 4th round pick (we keep 12 + 4 rookies, so the pick is, at best, after 144 kept players if I don't include the rookies) for Brent Seabrook.

The Andersen/Helle owner wants OEL for either one. In my mind, that's too much. Am I wrong there? Do I need a goalie so desperately that I have to trade someone of his caliber? (Goalie depth is thin in this league as we have 12 teams).

I think that OEL is too steep of a price. Is D his position of need? OEL is obviously an opening price in a negotiation, so go back with someone less and see what happens. I wouldn't lose sleep over trading Ristolainen for Hellebuyck.

Hellebuyck is way too inconsistent this season. 40 save shutout one game, then sub .900 SV% for the next 2. Been going on all season. Stats will likely even out by seasons end with the ups and downs, but for this single season, terrible for streaming.

(stupid stupid stupid... I AM... for not starting Helle yesterday).

Which illustrates Tobias' point above about him being inconsistent this year. I think he will become a fantastic fantasy own very soon, but not quite yet.

I also don't know if Helle is such a clear cut improvement on Andersen.

But what I do know is that under no circumstance am I trading OEL for either.

Hellboy isn't a stud grade yet. (still learning to be a consistent starter)
I would move any of these guys or pick 2 Arvidsson, Matheson, Dal Colle.
No way in hell I move OEL for Helly
