Dubnyk if those are the only categories. I don't care how improved EDM is on D, they will still allow sloppy D to happen and more shots that lead to goals.
Wins and shut outs.. who do you choose?

I would choose Dubnyk for wins and shutouts over Talbot!!
Zorro says "vote for Dobber"
Angus is my best friend at dobberhockey..
I actually don't like Min this year, so I would go with Talbot over Dubnyk.

Dubnyk for me too. Much less sold on Edmonton and Talbot. Minny should be in playoff race all season.
I have both goalies in a points only and 1 of my gm's wants either of them but I like you don't know which is best to keep/part with. Wish I could help!?!?!?

I own them both in a keeper league and if I had to choose long term it would definitely be Talbot but for this season I gotta go with Dubnyk. He had 5 shutouts last year. Holtby and Talbot both only had 3. Go for the goalie with the team that has the stronger D because team defense plays a lot into goalies getting shutouts. The better the D, the poorer the shot quality for the opposition, which means easier saves for the goalies. Dubnyk this year. Talbot next year and beyond.

I can't see any set of categories where Talbot interests me more than Dubnyk. Wins and shutouts are almost completely team driven stats and Minnesota is one of the best defensive teams in the NHL. They were top 10 in GAA last year while 5 of their 6 starting dmen were 25 or younger. All 6 dmen are back this year with another year of experience. The Wild will be a top 10 defensive team again this season. Edmonton will be lucky to get into the top 20.

How much luck do you think are involved with winning games in overtime or a shootout? I think the answer is a lot. Last year, Minnesota had 34 regulation wins, 3 shoot out wins and 1 OT win. Edmonton had 20 regulation wins, 7 OT wins and 4 shootout wins. I really don't think that the gap of 14 regulation wins between the two teams has shrunk enough where I would predict Edmonton to have a better season than Minnesota this year.
I would take Dubnyk, because I think that both teams have upgraded, and Minnesota is starting from a higher floor, plus they have significantly upgraded at a spot that is not subject to salary cap issues - coach.
