    Default Is Rask worth keeping?

I have been pondering for weeks on whether I should keep Rask or not. I have 4 picks in the top 25.

I would have to drop one of Simmonds, MacKinnon or Voracek to keep him.

Goalies that will be available at the draft worth looking at:
    Rask (redraft)
    Schneider
    Elliott
    Lundqvist
    Bobrovsky
    Halak
    Fleury
    Mason
    Dubnyk
    Luongo
    Varlamov
    Anderson
    Allen
    etc.

I'm thinking I should keep my forwards that are harder to come by, and redraft a top goalie with one of those first 4 picks, then pick up another one later on in the 4th round or so. We can only have 2 goalies on our roster, so having 2 solid starters would help.

    W, GAA, SV%, SHO

    C - Tavares, Seguin (C,RW), MacKinnon (C,RW), Plekanec, Barkov
LW - Ladd, Marleau, Panarin, Dubinsky
RW - Voracek, Simmonds, Ehlers, Nichushkin
D - Subban, Boychuk, Keith, OEL, Niskanen
    G - F. Andersen, Schneider
    IR - Bobrovsky

With so many scoring categories for skaters goalies take a hit in this setting. But the big question is whether or not you can draft a skater better than Simmonds or MacKinnon with one of those top picks or if you'd be better off using the top picks on a Rask replacement.

For the record, I still have Rask as a top-10 goalie even with Boston looking to nose dive. I have Lundqvist, Fleury, Bobrovsky and debatably Dubnyk ahead of Rask with Schneider in Rask's ballpark. So if you don't keep Rask you've got a shot at 6 goalies as good or better to load your team with. That could be decent flexibility, especially if people really are sour on Rask and you can draft him toward the bottom end of the top 25 or even outside of it. I say outside because in your setup there's really only need for one elite level goalie if at all.

If you can only have two goalies on your roster... I would definitely drop him and keep a forward. This means only 24 goalies total can be on rosters...making them less likely to be peoples top priority.

    Keep the forwards.
You really only have 3 Cats that you can strategize on with SO being random.
That leaves W, GAA and Sv% to base your thoughts on goalies.
The league is a skater-heavy built league so build your team as that. Skater heavy.

Pretty awful start for Rask. Alot of people on this site were advocating for him despite Boston's losses this offseason - anyone losing faith moreso than before?

No. Why would we? Is Rask a 5.00 GAA goalie now?

If you want to drop or trade every goalie Tampa scores 6 goals against, you will not have many options left. This team is deadly.

14 goals allowed over the first 3 games is a bit of a concern, no?

LOL ok whatever man. Didn't say I was considering dropping him....just thought it was worth discussing since there were concerns already going into the year.

He's still one of the most talented goalies in the league.

The Bruins are so bad now though that his trade value is for sure lower than it was a couple years ago. I don't think his value will increase for the foreseeable future either.

Wait for a hot streak, and if you can get an appropriate return for him I would probably pull the trigger (i.e. it's still possible to pull something like a Rask for Dubnyk+, which I would do in a heartbeat). If that trade example scares you then I could also see something like Rask for Tarasenko still being possible. Just don't sell him crazy low!

For Tarasenko? Seriously? Heck, I'd have done that on draft day when I still thought he was an NHL goalie. Seems like that in order to trade his sorry a** one of two things will need to be true. Either your trading partner has unreasonably high regard for Rask's rep, or else he hasn't been following this crap-storm because he didn't have him on his roster. I'm going to ride it out and hope that he turns it around enough to either start him a time or two, or build his trade value into something that can get me more than some practice pucks.

But to be fair, I do think that Dennis4022 makes a great point when he says, "If you want to drop or trade every goalie Tampa scores 6 goals against, you will not have many options left. This team is deadly."
