Dubnyk or Rask - Keeper
Hello Dobbernation, long time listener, first time poster. I have been offered a trade: gaining Rask/M. Green to give up Dubnyk/Streit. I am torn as I see Minny on the rise and Boston as meh, Rask is Tier 1 for sure while Dubz has been en fuego. Am I a fool not to make this trade? Should I stop sniffing the Dubnyk glue? Talk me off the ledge here.

Welcome aboard. Take the rask side by a mile. Duby hasn't really proven a thing yet. This is his only good season. rask is a top 5 goalie going forward imo.

I prefer the Rask side and I watch almost all of the Wild's games. The Minnesota Wild are an elite defensive team so Dubnyk has looked great. He will likely continue to put up very good numbers but Rask is one of the three best goalies in the world so you have to make the move.

Welcome! Take the deal. Rask is generally a consistent goalie throughout his career (both professional and amateur). He is better than Dubnyk. The Dmen involved in the trade are a wash as Green is injury prone but Streit is much older.

The Bruins arent going to fall to the bottom of the league or anything. They're clearly not the President's Trophy winning version of themselves. But, they are still very solid, and will be moving forward. And, as long as Julien is the coach (just signed an extension), they will be a defensive minded, responsible team. Rask is a Top 5 goalie in a keeper, no question about it.
Dubnyk is a good story and very well may have found a home and a scheme he likes to play behind. But, things tend to be streaky in the NHL, and you always have to err towards the bigger sample size.
No brainer deal for you, its the safe and better play. I wouldnt be shocked, however, if Dubnyk maintains the #1 job for the Wild for years to come. Hes always had the upside.

I'd accept that one about 0.5 seconds after seeing it...though I might have to take another second or two to re-read it to make sure I was seeing it right. Rask is one of the top G's in the world, and will be for years.

Hold on, wait, what!?! Did I read this right. That's the sort of deal that should get a GM barred from a league for incompetence. I'd like to support the 'take the deal and run' crowd but I'm more inclined to say, replace that GM before he destroys the team
