    Default Can Dubnyk be trusted?

Lost Elliot and Dubnyk is all I have. Smith owner trying to snag him from me for only a pick that could net me either Pickard, Brodeur, Ramo, Montoya, etc. So... can Dubnyk be trusted?

Right now Dubnyk is the best option I'd say. Keep an eye on the Luongo situation though. If he's out long-term then Montoya might be a slight improvement.

Depends what the pick is worth. It would be a gamble to go with Montoya but if you only need to weather the storm until Elliot comes back, it might be worth it.

Once it is determined how long Elliot is out,you can have a better idea on what to do.
Looking at your team trade Montoya for what you can, then work the WW for your 2nd goalie.
    Montoya, Pickard can be serviceable.

Dubnyk is a better option than all those goalies individually talent-wise, and he plays in a defensive-oriented system so things are looking okay for him. Might not get a lot of Ws but his peripherals will be pretty good.

There is a thread titled mike smith where I compare dubby and smiths stats have a look

    edit here it is

Mike Smith numbers on teams not coached by Dave Tippet are generally worse than those put up by dubnyk playing for an atrocious Oilers team. Here are the comparison is you take out Smiths amazing first season with Arizone and Dubnyk Last Season.

So while Smith has shown some o consistency while playing in systems run by Dave Tippett hes been genrally average or well below average in his other seasons. I am not saying Dubnyk is the answer, but maybe he could show the same kind of turnaround Smith did....

Maybe it was actually an Oiler problem and not a Dubnyk one...

I dont think Lou will miss that much time so be careful if you are hoping Montoya will get you a bunch of starts.
