    Question Steve Mason

Is he happening? He has started 3 out of 4 games and had fairly good results. And he started the first game of the Berube Era. Anyone know if Berube prefers him? I know Emery is on a one-year deal, is Mason on a longer contract?

If Mason continues to get 3 out of 4 he will start 60 games and that is a highly relevant amount of starts. Almost tempted to drop Dubnyk who is bloody awful so far.

Any close observers of the Flyers are encouraged to comment.

Still too early to call, but it's in the organization's best interest to have Mason succeed. They'll give him the opportunity to succeed or fail. He's not a 60+ starter this year, but he could get 50 or so games if he continues to play well.

I think he is for real (heavily biased here if you noticed who was on my avatar).
The kid's got elite upside, and will take the starting job. Even in his losses he has shined.

Agreed, he's going to be given every opportunity to succeed under Berube, and Emery is there as the gold-standard backup like he was last season with Chicago. As someone who is also a bit biased (ref: name) and watches the team very closely, they want him to be their starter and want to bring out the Calder-caliber play he had in his early days. Mason was stuck behind a terrible team in Columbus, and the Flyers are looking to reinvigorate his career under their roof.

Well I must admit that I own him so maybe I'm biased too...

But I think he's got a shot at success.

Too early to tell just yet. Kind in mind that the win yesterday was against FLA so it doesn't really count. Need to see if he can win against an NHL level team and if he continues to get majority starts.

Bumping this thread a bit here ... Do you guys think Mason has a shot at a good season (25+ wins) is the Flyers light up?

Yeah the Flyers really like Mason and rightfully so, he's been their best player all season. I really think the change of scenery has done wonders for Mason...even if the change of scenery has resulted on him being on another terrible team. The difference is Mason is actually a difference maker on this terrible team, where he wasn't beyond his rookie season in Columbus.

I'd take Mason over Dubnyk for the rest of the season and beyond.
