Keep 6. Points only. No position.
1st place right now, by only 10 points. Traded today to aquire EKane. Now, want to grab another nice forward. For this year, but also maybe as a keeper. Using Yandle as trade bait. Planning of keeping Price and 5 forwards. No plan to keep Yandle this summer, so want to cash on his value. Recieved an offer today involving Marleau. In fact I asked for Couture, but he countered with Marleau. The offer is My Selanne + SKostitsyn + Yandle vs His Marleau + Whitney(edm) Really don't mind losing SK. Selanne is no where near his hot start. Yandle is OK at best, losing his #1 spot to OEL. Marleau is also very far from his fabulous start. Whitney struggled big this year but seems to catch up. What do you think of this trade possibility? I could counter with Marleau + Gonchar, but I doubt he accepts. And, is Gonchar a really better option than Whitney for the rest of the season? Thanks. Rep to you.

1) I think it's a pretty solid deal. You're getting the best player in Marleau and SJS has a solid schedule for the rest of the year.
2) Yandle likely isn't a keeper for you anyways given your strength at forward and you obviously have to keep Price. 3) I'd rather have Gonchar over Whitney. Hard to argue with what Gonchar's doing, plus he plays for a better coached team and he seems to be making the most of his time on the ice with Karlsson out of the picture. My two cents. |

Without Gonchar its a bit of overpayment imo. SK and Whitney is basically "fluff" in this deal as neither cant be trusted for any kind of consistency.
So Selanne + Yandle for Marleau. Its ok if youre sure that you want to keep Marleau, otherwise I would aim higher and "overpay" for another keeper forward. Personally I think SJ will struggle all the way into next season, they have absolutly no idea how to fix whats wrong right now. A new coach might change that but with so few games left I doubt it.
