I really want to acquire Malkin. I'm 7-1 and locked up a playoff spot. I'm preparing for the playoffs and really want to take a gamble on Malkin.
Would this be enough... PA Parenteau, Marc Staal (IR), maybe Bryzgalov? I'm trying to convince him that he needs to make a playoff push. He's tied for the last spot at 4-4. Parenteau is averaging 5.0 ppg (sell high) and Bryzgalov could be his third goalie. He has Mike Smith and Pekka Rinne, both who have struggled as of late. I have Rask and Price so Bryz isn't necessary. Bottom-line: Too much for an injured player?

If you can swing that, I'd go for it right away. High payoff here

I'd easily make that deal assuming the point value works out.
From what I'm seeing just from a quick glance Malkin can easily 5.0 PPG and Bryzgalov in some cases could hurt you more than help. Unless he's posting amazing ratios and getting wins he can pretty much only offer you a max of like 9-11 points in a game...15 if he gets a shutout. But how many times is he going to do that the way he looks now. Malkin is the type of guy that can average you around 7-10 points a game + on a regular basis. 8 team league I'm sure you can grab a third goalie off the wire. That being said, i don't see why he would do this deal. |

The points aren't a huge factor. Rask and Price >>> Bryz. I can grab Hiller or Pavelec, etc. Staal is just taking up space in a start 3 defensemen league. I have the top four d-men too.
Due to my scoring format, it's basically it's selling off players who are the odd-man out. Perceived value > real value. Hopefully the possibility of points now and making the playoffs is appealing. This guy does it for fun and probably doesn't look into the fine details. I need Malkin for scoring. I traded for Staal this weekend and Brown (nice peripheral stats) to bolster for playoffs.

I think that's an awesome sell-high on Parenteau and Bryz for Malkin. Do it.
