Default Pick a FA for my open slot

Need to make this move count. Weakest in +/-, PIM and assists. But I want the best available guy irrespective of the catetories. Available are:

Wheeler
Peron
Hodgson
Boyes (hate to take a hit in +/-, my weakest category)
Braden Schenn
Brouwer
J. Williams (could use the +/- bump)
Oshie (hurt?)
Roy

Or, D's (I have one open now, but if Enstrom comes back soon, I'm ok)
Muzzin
Ernhoff

Thanks!

Are you limited on how many transactions you can make? Muzzin may address your positional needs best. Otherwise I like Oshie best, but with him having DTD status it kinda sucks. Wheeler and Boyes are good point options too. Maybe it's best to embrace a bad +/- and focus on other categories that are more winnable for your team.

I'd keep a really close eye on Burns too (assuming he's available)... I think he's a great buy low.

I have 5 moves left, so I don't want to get too crazy with 3 weeks left, plus a playoff week or two. I'm way out in front in first place, but had to drop LeCav due to his injury and the fact that I am stacked at C. So I have a slot to fill, and I'm approaching it like it's my last move.

I think you're right about not worrying about the categories. I'm not going to fix my +/- with one guy. Best available guy is fine. I have been only carrying 3 D's and the strategy usually works fine, though I do lose a potential start and sometimes have to sit a forward for want of an open position on some nights. Maybe with my firepower, a D would be the better move. What do you think?

I think 5 moves is enough to take a chance on a boom-or-bust defenseman, especially if you're way out in the lead. You're right about 3D usually being a workable strategy, but I will caution you with the fact that given the condensed schedule you'll be benching an active forward even more often than usual.

Burns should have wing eligibility soon too, so he gives you a ton of versatility in your lineup. Maybe wait a little while to see that he gets it, and if/when he does, grab him? I know it seems a little insane to jump on a guy that has shown so little this season... but he has shown production before. Maybe you can get away with sleeping on him a little longer though.

As of todays stats:

Wheeler has 12A, -9, 12 PIM
Peron has 11A, -1, 26PIM
Hodgson has 12A, even, 14PIM
Boyes has 16A, -9, 12 PIM
Braden Schenn has 13A, -3, 9 PIM
Brouwer has 8A, -5, 22 PIM
J. Williams has 14A, +11, 14 PIM
Oshie has 12A, -6, 13 PIM
Roy has 12A, +6, 2PIM

Muzzin has 6A, +10, 31 PIM
Ehrhoff has 9A, +6, 18 PIM

Looking at these numbers if I was picking someone up today I would probably go with Justin Williams. If Derek Roy would suck it up and take a few PIMs for the fantasy guys out there he would be just as valuable. Perron doesnt look too bad right now either as the top PIM guy from the forwards who will still get you points. His plus/minus is sucking right now because STL has had some rough games lately but they are too good to keep it going in that direction.

My top 3 based on your original post asking for the three stats I listed would be:

Williams
Perron
Roy

I"m lliking Wheeler here as well, Muzzin has also been great after scooping him up last week.

Burns could be a great snag as well like kbro said, grabbed him in one league right away and it looks like he and Logan Couture are clicking.

THanks so much, guys. Yeah, I think I'll roll the dice on Burns. What the heck. but Wheeler and Roy are tempting. I appreciate the advice!
