Default A. Markov for T. Myers

Which side do you choose in a keeper and why? (league below)

I wouldn't want either hahha.
But that's not the question.
I would honestly take Markov. He's had a rough couple seasons but he is dominant on the PP and IF he can stay healthy you could get a couple great seasons from him.
Tyler Myers hasn't shown me anything in the last 2 years that would make me want him as a keeper. He's on the waiver wire in both of my leagues.

I'd probably go with Myers here. Although he's played poorly for a couple of seasons, he's obviously quite a bit younger than Markov and has time to figure it out. Plus, he hits more, takes more PIMs, shots are close, and +/- isn't all that far off. Granted, you'll be losing out on the PPP that Markov has to offer, but you'll have gained in at least hits and PIMs.

Now if you're realistically taking a run at the championship this year, then I'd stay with Markov. But otherwise, I think you have little to lose in making the change to Myers and will have built a nice looking blueline that you can be a little more patient with.

I am a contender (currently 2/16) - and Markov has been providing me with valuable goals and PPP (he leads all D in the league in PPP). I just want some kind of assurance that Myers is more than a one-hit wonder, but I don't see that from him.

I think we're dealing with somewhat different questions. As a contender and given the importance of Markov to your chances this season, I would not make the move. But in a keeper with a team that is still in the building phase to seriously compete, I'd really not mind doing it to get Myers for the reasons I mentioned above (better peripherals in many aspects already, much younger).

Regarding being a one-hit wonder, I really don't know. But I do think that expectations following his rookie season when he put up 48 points were likely out of whack, and also that it is important to keep in mind that he just turned 23 years old a few weeks ago. Don't think he'll ever be elite or top echelon or whatever, but I also think it's premature to completely write him off as useless. It seems like he's been around forever, but he's actually still quite young and developing (not like he's 26 or 27 years old and completely is what he is so to speak).
