Karlsson + for Tavares + (rep)

Hi,

I'm currently leading my league.

The guy who is second offered me his Tavares + a Dman for Karlsson + a forward.

I don't really need a dman this season but I will need one next season as you can see in my sig (if a player is in the same team for three consecutiv seasons he goes in the free agents).

I told him I wanted OEL and he asked for my Giroux.

I'm not going to accept this offer but I was wondering if you guys had an idea on which forward I could send him as a counter-offer or should I ask for his first round pick next season, it's going to be our fourth season so there should be a lot of good players available.

I would definitely make a trade with Karlsson and Tavares being the principle pieces. Not only are you making your team stronger but you are weakening his. I would not include the OEL/Giroux. Maybe Perry instead of Giroux. Does he have any other Dmen available rather than OEL?

By the way, I like your 3-year rule.

Enstrom, OEL, Carlson and Goligoski are on their third seasons with him so they would b the easiest to get.

I'm thinking of counter offering Karlsson vs Tavares + 1st rounder at the beginning of next season but at the same time having the opportunity to get a defenceman for next season is attractive. Should I go Karlsson + Perry vs Tavares + OEL?

What about Tavares for karlsson straight up? Would he be willing to take the hit this season? OOOPs ignore the header.

Probably, If he offered me to do a trade including Karlsson he probably gave up the season.

At the beginning of the season I traded my Karlsson+Alfy for his (sens fan) Tavares and Enstrom..

I could see you trading karlsson this year, as a benefit to winning this year. But do you think his value would actually go up when next season starts?

I get until our first FA draft next season to trade him or else he goes to the FAs and everyone gets to draft him. His value will go up but I won't get anything for him since I will probably be drafting last.

Well since your still contending this year, I don't know if I'd wanna give up Giroux just yet. Nor would I want Enstrom really (more of an assist guy as well).

And you will have a big whole in D for next year, which is why I think you should make a move for OEL and Shultz (unless you think he is too hard to get).

In that case you can dish another one of your 3rd year D in the trade. Which I think will give you more room to negotiate. So you can offer Karl/Perry/ who you think your worst D is, then slowly move up to what he likes.. At worst you could move Giroux I guess, but ideally later in the season when your still contending this year.
