Crosby package
I'd like to move Daniel Sedin in my full keeper while he's still got elite value and package him with a D since I have too many. The other owner wants to deal Fleury to improve his offence. That's where the talks started. I offered Sedin/Green/Gagner for Fleury/JVR/Franson (I'd drop Franson to activate Kesler off the IR, so really it was Fleury/JVR/Kesler for me).
He rejected saying he wanted Giroux in the deal somehow as well. I said he'd need to include Crosby for any deal involving both Sedin and Giroux, assuming that would be the end of the discussion. Surprisingly, he just countered with asking for Sedin/Giroux/Schultz for Crosby/Fleury/Franson (again, Franson would become Kesler). CONS: - I don't really NEED the goalie (usually 3 good ones are standard on a team in our league). - I'd also have three straight centres in Crosby, Getzlaf and Kesler which isn't ideal since we only dress two and I'd be benching one regularly. - I'd be short a LW. - Giroux(C,RW) and Schultz are more or less my future backbone at F and D. PROS: - It's Crosby - I'd be getting a return on Sedin (this is the only GM in the league that is interested) - I'd have a trading chip in a 4th starting goalie as the season progresses What to do?

This is the way I break it down.
It is not ridiculous to trade 2 keepers for Crosby. Broken down, Giroux and Schultz for Sid is actually not bad. Crosby is still just 25 and dominant. I think Giroux is a top player but I'm not sure he is elite without the right players around him. That is what separates Crosby from so many others. Giroux needed Jagr last year. He isn't the same without him. Crosby makes others (Kunitz) way better. Also, Sedin for Fleury is also a fair swap. Sedin a great player but Fleury is a great goalie. And like you said, if any one carries 4 starting goalies, they become quite valuable as the trade dealine approaches. That's my thoughts. Any chance to get Crosby is hard to pass up. I think Giroux's value is a lot higher right now then potentially in the future. With the emergence of guys like Tavares, Stamkos, P Kane, Toews, Hall, Eberle, Hopkins not to mention one day Tarasenko, Yakapov, Galchenyuk... Crosby will still likely be #1 while Giroux may only make top 10-15. -Rich

Thanks for the feedback guys but he cancelled his offer about 15 min. ago. This guy's all over the map. Probably would have been a decent deal as you mentioned, but the trade winds changed again I suppose. Rep still coming regardless, thanks again.

Go for it. Getting Crosby is worth it alone, getting one of the better goalies (fantasy-wise) is a huge bonus. Having 4 starters will put you in a position to deal from strength at some point later in the season....use a goalie to pick up a right or left wing.
