Kesler is available as a FA in my league (whoa), but I've got to drop someone to get him...
Looking at my roster below, the easy choice is B.Schenn, but I often use his roster spot to stream in good weekly schedules around the rest of my team's open slots (Philly has 5 games in the next week). So if I try to maximize my daily roster, it might be wise to hold him while Philly's schedule is favorable the next two weeks. I guess next in the dropsie pecking order might be Patches, but even though I expect some regression, I'm trying not to lose hope on him too quickly. If I did dump Patches, I could move Datsyuk over to my LWers... Or, perhaps drop Koivu, a straight pivot for pivot swap... Who would you drop, assuming you think Kesler is worth grabbing?

I'd drop Schenn and grab Kesler in a heartbeat.

I'm in similar situation (see post). The guy is SOOO tempting to add, and certainly won't last on the FA list for another day. But how do you judge the guy's value right now when he is coming back from a serious injury? I think I'm gonna roll the dice. For you, despite everyone's hype of Koivu playing with Parise, I'm not sold. traded him for Ribiero and made out like a bandit. I could see dropping him, or as you suggest, Shenn. but if you're gonna roll the dice, I think I'd go big and drop Koivu.

Yea that's asinine rationale... Don't drop koivu eps if its multicast with FW n hits.
Drop schenn or patches and don't think twice... Kesler looked great last night Def not any shyness n the physical play. Won 9 face offs n 4 hits... And 4 shots... And an assist He's fine.. And a stallion. Get him ASAP |

Thanks for your replies guys... I decided to drop Schenn even though he's got a great schedule ahead. I'll watch Koivu, Patches and others over the next couple weeks... and if one of them really tails off, I'll replace them with a "streamer".

Good move for you. As for my "assinine logic" of Schenn over Koivu, it says here that Schenn's production will rival Koivu's all year. Plus, he's dual-eligible in Yahoo. Right now, depending on your scoring, you would not be a fool to have Schenn over Koivu.
Goals: Both have 3 Assists: Shenn 7, Koivu 8 +/-: Shenn +4, Koivu 0 Hits: Shenn 36, Koivu 18 Blocks: Shenn 7, Koivu 4 PPP: Shenn 3, Koivu 5 SOG: Shenn 21, Koivu 37 Since you count SOG and not hits and blocks, perhaps that does tilt it for Koivu in your league. But Schenn is coming on right now. Pardon me, SubbaNsalad for being a little defensive at your characterization, but I don't think I'm far off here. Could be wrong, but spare me the insult, ok?

Good on you jimc21 for defending your position with cold, hard stats. I don't regret dropping Schenn, but your comparison of him vs. Koivu certainly validates someone making the decision to keep Schenn. Props to both you and SubbaNSalad for chiming in...
