Default How do you deal with terrible trades in your league?

Today, I was quite pissed off when I saw the following trade:

Better team picked up Zetterberg and gave Letang to the worse team.

It wouldn't bother me if the trade was made to another team, but the team that picked up Zetterberg straight up for Letang is one of the 2 other teams I feel has a good chance of competing for the championship against me. The worse team's manager doesn't give a rat's ass about the league and is only here because they thought they knew something about hockey. Turns out they don't and, in the 3+ weeks since we drafted, they've only accessed their team to change lines once: the day after the draft (Jan. 23). Well, today I get onto Yahoo and see this.

Even worse is that, when I asked this annoying manager why they did it, they claimed that they needed another defender to fill up their last D slot. Turns out they already have four D and this was simply another player they are going to end up benching (since they have no concept of daily line changes). Now they are left with a missing LW slot (which I don't expect them to fill from their bench).

So my question is: how do I deal with this? Yes, I'm pissed off and frankly, I can't do crap about Zetterberg helping this guy out, so how do I respond? Do I try to scam the annoying manager and get a piece of their team for myself?

Your LM is no good if that's happening.

It sounds like the title to this thread should have been: "How do you deal with crappy and disinterested managers in your league?"

Because that's your problem, not the trade itself.

Yeah, one thing I forgot to mention. The LM is the one getting Zetterberg, so, frankly, there's nothing I could do about it even if I wanted to.

I absolutely hate this guy because he put together a league in a matter of 5 minutes, picked 3 managers that know almost nothing about hockey simply for the sake of getting a league together ASAP, and has been trying to change the scoring categories every so often in his favour.

My only concern is that I already paid my part and the only thing I can do is finish the season and then start my own league next year.

And yeah, agree with the title change 100%.

But either way, can I turn my frustration into an advantage, cause, really, I take this league the most serious of anybody. Should I try to do my part to scam the disinterested manager?

I think you should void yourself of a league like this and outright quit altogether as it likely will get worse from here on out if it's already starting off like this. Fantasy hockey should be fun, not a frustration. Also I see nothing wrong with a Zetterberg for Letang trade. To be honest I'd rather have Letang.

If you decide to stay in such a league - of course take advantage of the disinterested guys! Go milk them!

BTW: considering the deal: I don't think it's bad at all. Letang is a top 3 D IMO and much younger than Zetts.

Agree with everyone else here. The issue is the LM here. He knows the manager is not participating and does a deal with him. OBviously he cannot put the interests of the league above his own (though I agree with Old Smokie that he actually lost the deal).

Play out the year hopefully you can win and actually collect your winnings. And find a new league next year.
