Default Neal+ for Letang+

I've been trying to upgrade my D for some time now. This offer was just sent to me last night.

Letang, Bryzgalov, Dubnyk
for
Neal, Ward, Hiller

I hate to give up Neal but I've been trying to trade for a D-man for weeks with no success. There are two deadbeat GMs in the league who are each stacked at D so that is hurting my cause even more.

Stats are:

Dress: 2C 2LW 2RW 1W 1F 4D 1Util 2G 4BN 1IR
Categories: G,A,+/-,PIM,PPP,GWG,HITS, W, GA, GAA, SV, SV%, SHO

My team:
C: Getzlaf, Riberio, M Koivu, Kesler, Conacher (LW)
LW: Hartnell (IR), Benn (C), Datsyuk (C), Burrows (RW)
RW: Semin (LW), Tarasenko, Neal (LW), Callahan
D: Ekman-Larsson, Wideman, McDonagh
G: Rinne, Ward, Hiller, Lindback

I think that's a pretty solid deal,..the only thing I would be concerned about is letang's health. A healthy Letang though And I think it's solid. You get a starter without much competition for Hiller and you improve your peripherals a bit.

My two cents.

Forgive me bondon but I'm not sure I should take advice from you when it involves goalies :P

Seriously though, Letang's health is part of my concern too. The other GM owns Buff, should I swap Letang out for him or does that make it now worth losing Neal?

Well then the issue becomes Byfuglien's health and not Letang's haha.

All in all, I think you definitely have the forward depth to take a hit to improve your D. Especially with Kesler coming back, who I don't expect to be great but I still expect to be better than average for awhile while he gets back into form.

Between Letang and Byfuglien, without SOG I'd have to go with the tangman but you can't go wrong with either.

I woudl say no to this deal. This is how I see the deal:
Neal>Letang/Buff
Ward>Bryz
Hiller=Dubnyk

I think you are giving up too much just to get a dman. If there are no dmen out there for you to trade for then I would suggest upgrading your forwards to compensate your lack of depth for your dmen.

Thanks, I haven't paid much attention to Buff the last few years as I've never seemed to own him. I will stick with looking for Letang then.

Is Ward really that much better than Bryz? Bryz has been putting up solid numbers and Philly is starting to win again. I think you're right on the Hiller = Dubnyk point but Dubnyk should get more starts and has been putting up way better peripherals.

That's what Im thinking. I think they're pretty much a wash. Futhermore, I think Dubnyk is a bit ahead of Hiller due to Fasth's emergence and no real competition in EDM at the moment. Therefore with your depth up front coupled with the reasons I just explained, I'd probably take this deal for Letang.

Stay away from Letang if I were you... he's achieved bandaid boy status in my books.

Looks like I dragged my heels for too long. He cancelled the trade and swapped out Letang/Neal for Subban and Getzlaf.

So would you guys do Getzlaf/Ward/Hiller for Subban/Bryz/Dubnyk?

Yes I think Ward is much better and safer pick than Bryz. I would stay far away from Bryz as possible. I am in many leagues and everyone is trying to pawn Bryz off on to other gm's. You never know when bears will attack!

This is closer than the other the deal. Both Getz and Subban are playing good thid year but I think you still are on the losing side:

Getz=Subban
Ward>Bryz
Hiller=Dubnyk

I am keeping Hiller and Dubnyk equal even if Fasth has the hot hand now. He will eventually fall and Hiller will be playing every game again. The Oilers are not playing very good again and Dubnyks numbers will reflect that. No defense in Edm.
