Was recently offered Eric Staal and a 2nd round pick for next year for my Ovechkin and 3rd round pick for next year. Am I crazy that I'm even considering it? My team and league info are in my signature.

No your not crazy. I wouldnt take it, Staal has also had his down seasons like OV. just goes to show that you should hold on rather than catch the hottest player.

Yeah I think it's too easy to make a knee-jerk reaction and then regret it later. I don't think it would be a terrible trade but I keep thinking that Oates might get Ovie going again and at his best he's a beast. Thanks for responding.

Staal is good and he is hot right now. You know who else was hot at the beginning of the year? Marleau, Thornton and Heatly...look at them now. Staal goes through his slumps and OV still has that dynamic to him where he could blow up at any time and get 5 points in 2 games or 10 in 6. I know OV has looked to be on a downswing in the last couple of years, but I wouldn't move him SU for Staal.

I hate Ovechkin & love E.Staal... but I think I'd still prefer the Ovechkin side in a keeper pool with forward positions.
Eventually, positions should get corrected in fantasy hockey and there is a serious lack of depth at ACTUAL LW.

So... even if Eric Staal has, say, a SCORE of 82 in fantasy hockey.
And even if Alex Ovechkin has, say, a SCORE of 80 in fantasy hockey.

Ovechkin is still more valuable because a waiver wire LW will probably be a SCORE of 50 and a waiver wire C may still be found with a SCORE of 58.

The thinness at LW makes the ELITE LWers very valuable in fantasy pools... and we can't forget this.

(For this year, though, I'd prefer Eric Staal straight-up over Ovechkin in multi-cat.)

I would make this trade. Ovy's point per game days are long gone. Staal will be a PPG player now that he is happy that he is playing with his brother on the same team. They are two players moving in opposite directions.
