Default Josi?

What gives? I know Weber has been slow to boot and Josi has been spending a lot of time on a pairing with Weber and getting decent amounts of PP time but still...... lack of points (only 1). Do these guys get going this season? It's kind of disheartening I expected more from the Preds. I know they are more of a score by committee team.

From what I've seen of him, he hasn't played badly but is suffering largely because of Shea Weber's slump. I still like him long term, but it might be a couple years before he starts to reach his potential.

Would it be legit to say if Weber can start producing he'll at least be a benefactor of said production? Would like to see him hit the score sheet more. But given Weber's low numbers I think it's something more team related than a personal fault.

I know Senior Hockey isn't the NHL.

D-men. One night we had a d-man get six points, that never recorded points. Six point kind of guy over a 24 schedule. All six assists were second assists. I wonder how many he pounded around the boards in our end, and had pop out, then turn into a goal.

Another guy, he was an excellent D-man, we had great fun teasing one year. He played a dozen games and was pointless. The very next year he had 12 points in 12 games. Truth of the matter, is when you add the 24 games together and he had 12 points, now you're getting the picture.

So, what's this got to do with Josi or Weber?

With Weber, we know he's going to get unlimited chances. Eventually, this thing has to straighten out.

Josi. If you liked him before, you should still like him - however he is a young D-man. Young D-men that don't produce are in danger of losing their job if there is a suitable replacement... I think Ryan Ellis qualifies as a potential suitable replacement...

Long term I think Josi has a bright future. A mature Ellis is likely to push him aside on the offensive side of the ice. It's hard to imagine Ellis being superior defensively, maybe at any point in time in his NHL career. www.hockeydb.com still lists him as 179lbs.

So, when the dust settles, Josi a solid NHLer chewing up substantial minutes and making $4.0M or $5.0M annually, I won't be surprised that he's chipping in 25 to 35 points. I've been wrong before though. I thought he might threaten for 30 points this year based on 80 games (and then those that owned him might silently root for another five or so). He looked to be a good risk.

General rule of thumb. If a guy was a good risk last week, he's still a good risk this week!

I think that's really true. Weber and Josi will be intertwined on both goals and assists a lot of the time. I'd really be surprised if this drought was year-long for either of them.

4 points tonight - 2G, 2A. Looked like an offensive stud the whole game. That one game performance is more than the total points he's amassed the whole season. Anyway, it's just one game but if you're a Josi owner, you gotta be happy with what happened tonight (or happy/sad like me cause he was on my bench )

Exploded and was a nice little gift! A long time coming. I would agree that expectations must be tempered however I'd say it's only a matter of time before hopefully the points come a bit more consistently.

Who would you guys pick between Brendan Smith and Josi for the next two seasons? I'm kind of having a hard time since I did not have the chance to watch Smith play.

I feel so fortunate to be facing both Josi and Beauchemin this week in a head to head. Definitely not the guys on the opposition who I though might be sinking my battleship -- yowsers!!
