Default Douche move?

A buddy of mine in our head to head told me he was going to player cycle to get goalie starts on me this week. So I've been holding my 2 claims to pick up backup starters and drop them back to waivers same day so there is a 2 day wait and it spoils his dastardly plan?

The best offense is a good defense. Really though is this a dick move by me or genius defensive strategy? (I have claims to burn)

Not a dick move at all, I regularly wait till Saturday or Sunday to drop players solely so that nobody else can pick them up in time for the upcoming week.

The question you have to ask yourself is whether it's worth using up your wire claims for such a small benefit.

Sounds like he was big talking about how he was going to kick your butt - if so then proceed.

Given it's a short season, I'd say it's worth it. I get a max of 2 claims per week and have enough to ride me out until the playoffs (we aren't allowed WW or FA claims during playoff weeks). I do have one player I want to add for this week, but will hold off. Goalies can accumulate quite a few points if they have one 1 start and a low GAA and SV%.

Now if Bondon was picking up a few extra goalies it would be a douche move because we wouldn't just be screwing his opponent, he'd be screwing over countless other poolies who had those goalies.

On a side note, in a new league with some uni buds, the commissioner insisted we have unlimited moves. i argued strongly against it - for multiple reasons. he overrode my objections and kept the settings. to prove my point, i put the entire FA pool on waiver - three times over. time consuming, yes. spitefully enjoyable - even more so.

Agreed with the rest of the comments this is brilliant. Not sure you can block all of the backup starts but you could take your favourite two and block those.

Of note The Devils play back-to-back on Friday/Saturday with the second vs. the Islanders who Hedberg shutout last time they played so that is likely a backup start.

I say as long as it is within the league rules it is fair game. As a league manager in fantasy hockey, you can't run practice the way you want to make your team perform a specific way....but you can adjust your roster all you want within the guidelines to give you the best advantage possible. So to answer your question, no, it is not a dick move to see something happening and react to it in a way that will lead you to victory, it is what you should be doing!
