Everyone keeps talking about the same people when talking about surprises of the season (Vanek, Marleau, etc.).
I thought it would be a good idea to bring up some of the other guys who have done way better than expected. For example, Kadri has surprised me. So far, he has 11 points in 13 games. I've owned him for a few years, but got tired of waiting for him. So I tried trading him. And no one would even give me a last round pick for him. So I got stuck with him. And now, he's one of my top eight point-getters.

Clarkson has been mentioned on this site, but his start here is amazing.
Luongo's start to the season is surprising because he's getting starts and he isn't having his usually early season rustiness. Chris Kunitz? 15 points in 13 games! Sam Gagner is another one off to a hot start. Fedor Tyutin is a D that I'm sure has been plucked from many-a WW. Saku Koivu is looking like the Saku of ten years ago. And Corey Crawford is probably winning a lot of pools for folks right now.

Tarasenko and Conacher started off very quickly and surprised everyone but have since cooled off. Undergoing a market correction I guess and should produce at a more expected pace from here on out.
Did anyone expect Teemu to have 14-points in 10 games? Price's peripherals were expected to be where they are, but I didn't see that many Ws going up this early. Montreal in general has been surprising, Plekanec, Gallagher, Galchenyuk have all produced above expectations. Mike Ribeiro leading the Caps with 14-points is VERY surprising. Alex Tanguay has been surprisingly productive considering he wasn't even drafted in most leagues this year. Tobias Enstrom has been racking up the assists. That's just from going through my rosters. I'm sure there are others.

Matt Frattin has been a huge catalyst for the Leaf's surprising start. Him and Kadri are clicking well together.

I"ve been saying it in the UHL, but Vinny Lecavalier has been producing quite well so far. We'll see if he holds up.

Gagner had a 10-game point streak to start the season and has points in all but one game so far. Incredible consistency. 13 points overall in 12 games. That's amazing start to the season and has gone largely unrecognised.
Can you imagine if this the real Gagner from now on and he has finally emerged into a PPG-player? Edmonton would have such a deadly offense.

This isn't to take away from how impressive Gagner has been this season. He is the Oilers' most complete player and his understated drive, leadership have been immense for the team. The only thing he needs now is to become a dominant faceoff guy. As for surprises that few are talking about: 1. Toby Enstrom - We all knew he was good but he's the leading point getter among defensemen thus far and has been held scoreless only twice and this is with Byfuglien missing like five games already. 2. Craig Anderson - If people are talking about this guy I haven't heard it much. Only leading the league in Save Percentage. 3. Tomas Vokoun - What are the odds he steals the starting job from Fleury by season's end? 4. Henrik Zetterberg - Instead of falling off the map as I thought he might he has instead returned rejuvenated and now sits third in scoring. 5. Andrei Markov - Maybe people are talking about it but I've tried not to listen considering I'd written him off for dead. Still weighting for the other shoe to drop and another knee injury but maybe, just maybe, Markov is back for real. 6. Jussi Jokinen - ZERO POINTS. Look, he was never a world beater but he was still supposed to be a decent producer. Instead, the guy is looking like a baker. 7. Frans Nielsen - Ever so quietly putting up numbers. 8. Radim Vrbata - Even without Ray Whitney and with a shooting percentage half of what it was last season he's still putting up numbers. 9. Eric Staal - Just for his plus/minus. He was minus-20 last year and minus-10 the year before. Now he's plus-10, one behind Saku Koivu for the league lead. Please let this continue. 10. Shea Weber - ONE POINT! How is this not a bigger deal. Is it the sample size? Is it the lack of Suter? Does simply no one care what happens in Nashville?
