Default Hiller or Brodeur

I need production from my goalies and I need it soon. My goalies are Hiller and Kipper and I am thinking I need to make a move soon. I have several things on the go but one possibility I am thinking about is offering my Hiller for Brodeur. I know, this is not a good move long-term but I am in the running this year and goaltending is going to drag me down. For this year alone, would you rather have Hiller or Brodeur? Right now, it's looking like Brodeur is the clear winner but one has to wonder if his health will hold up (I know, that's already a problem with Hiller) and if the Devils are really as good as they've been thus far. Hiller could come back and have a pretty good year but he's got Fasth stealing starts from him. Seems like Brodeur would be the easy choice, no? But that's a big sacrifice long-term, there is a 10 year difference in age between the two. I just don't wanna wait too long when it's too hard to make up in Wins and SPct.

For this year alone I think you have to go with Brodeur given the developments

- The emergence of Fasth
- This mysterious 'LBI' that is keeping him momentarily out of the lineup
- The fact that NJD is thriving without Parise instead of falling apart.

To me the old age durability question mark for Brodeur is cancelled out by Hiller's injury history/vertigo issues question mark. Plus New Jersey is playing better hockey all around than Anaheim.

Though, one thing going against you here is that you're going to be buying super high on Brodeur for potentially one year...if he doesn't have success next year. If you're asking who is better on a one-year scenario, I'll have to go with Brodeur...but I'd be looking at other options. Maybe someone who will cost less but has some decent upside in the short term (i.e. targeting Kiprusoff..unless you already own him lol)

Bondon nailed it. There are too many reasons to go with Brodeur here. Hiller can't seem to stay healthy. Fasth is playing too well and may unseat Hiller. Marty has no competition and is playing well. It's the clear choice to make.

Nothing more to add here. This sums it up beautifully.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. Offer sent, waiting reply.

And unfortunately, my other goalie is Kipper

I did make one trade just now to bring in a starter. Traded Dubinsky (too expensive for my salary cap league given his production) and Fowler (don't need him this year and again at 4 mil next year, I can't afford him) for Nabokov.

Oh well, at least I have a starter in Nabokov for this week.
