Default Tell me which forward to drop [will rep]

When Halak comes off IR, i will need to drop somebody.

Can't be a D, as i need to carry 4.

Can't be a G, as i have a strategy which requires running 4 G.

So, which F to lose?

Team is currently in first, and basically everyone other than Bergeron, Marchand and Backes have been playing extremely well.

Team and Cats in sig.

I would have to go with Simmonds. everyone else is too valuable in your league.

I would flip a coin between Simmonds and Marchand (leaning more towards Simmonds though as he has a concussion vs Marchand's UBI). You have several Power Forwards and Simmonds Will get around the same number of PIMS as Marchand, with slightly more SOG. Marchand will have the upper hand in Pts and PPP.

I say drop Simmonds here or try to package Simmonds and Souray for an upgrade on D...

ok, thinking on Simmonds versus Marchand ..

with Hartnell out, Simmonds is going to be getting primo ice-time. he's also been delivering way more in the way of PIMs than Marchand this year. on the other hand, he should be much much less willing to fight post concussion.

Marchand has been good with goals and especially assists this year. he gets great minutes but his SOG per game has been very low and his PIMS virtually non-existent this year.

on a per game basis, Simmonds has greatly outplayed Marchand, we are talking an average rank of 33 for Simmonds versus 213 for Marchand. i expect Simmonds to decline and Marchand to advance, but that's a hell of a gap to make up, especially with Marchand apparently trying to win the Lady Byng this year [2 PIMs!]

i don't believe that both players will deliver similar penalty minutes over the course of the year. Marchand is playing a very obvious "stay out of the box" style this season.

I'd drop Marchand before I would drop Simmonds. Although your dual eligible players cover RW pretty good, so you could use Marchand's LW status over Simmonds' RW. But I'm still leaning towards dropping Marchand.

I would say Simmonds would be the player to drop as well. Hartnell just got his cast removed which means he may be back in a couple weeks and Simmonds is coming back too early I believe from his concussion. Especially with his style of play I fear there is a real strong possibility that he will miss more time this season. Simmonds has clearly helped more in regard to PIMs but over the course of the season I'd bet Marchand will have a better fantasy season for your team.

I'd drop Simmonds mainly because you've got a few guys that can fill in at RW -- Marchand is the only fill-in you've got on the left side.

Simmonds for me. Phillys forwards are like horse crap, they are all over the road (and i dont mean their quality of play). No one seems to really be playing with anyone consistently. At least you know Marchand will be on the 2nd line wing with Seguin and Bergeron.

Both are injured right now but I still like Marchands situation better then Simmonds. I'd be keeping Marchand and dropping Simmonds.

I may be missing something here, but why not punt Bergeron? He will never get you significant PIMs and is basically a 50-55pt guy, just like Marchand. You lose a few PPPs perhaps but PIM/Point combos are harder to find than PPP/Point combos

interesting suggestion, since i don't usually play Bergeron.

Bergeron has been putting up a ridiculous number of SOGs, so he's been very good statistically.

also, very insightful that Point/PIM is more difficult to find than Point/PPP.

Marchand hasn't Point/PIM this year, he actually has the lowest number of PIMs on my team, but at least he has the potential to increase his shots to Bergeron-ish levels and plays both C and LW.

very good response. thank you.
