Brunner for Sutter? (REP)

I'd be getting Timonen and Sutter for Brunner.

I'm in a deep salary cap league, as you can see in the signature.

Sutter is younger, signed for one more year at reasonable money, and a little more balanced in all the peripheral cats. Timonen definitely helps for this year. I should easily be a playoff team, so would love to make a run at it.

But, I really like Brunner. Would like to hear a few opinions.

And, what's Sutter's upside? I know it's somewhat limited, but he's still only 23 and as solid as they come in all three zones.

Timo is still an effective player. However, in my mind, due to his gae, the deal is more about Sutter and Brunner. I would decline this and keep Brunner who is highly-skilled and in his prime at 26.

In a 20 man league get two solid players for one, isn't a bad thing, but I'm not so sure Timonen is the answer when thinking of swapping your Brunner for Sutter. Timonen is declining, and will still come at a hefty salary, and Sutter isn't going to put up the same type of points as Brunner. I would keep Brunner because of his ability to put up points, and I would rather bank on his potential to be more effective in the years that follow.

Yeah I think this is spot on - I just don't see Sutter as having anywhere near the output Brunner will. I would hold on to Brunner, you could probably get more for him if he's a guy you are shopping around.

At this point, with Brunner off to such a promising start I'd hold onto him. He definitely has the highest ceiling of those 3 players, and he's been good to begin the season. Keep him for now....maybe he falls off the map and you miss your chance to cash in on him, but maybe he keeps the pace or even improves, and you have a much more valuable player.

Timonen and Sutter is about the most boring return you could ever hope to get for Brunner.
