You'll never get RNH in a keeper for that. It would probably have to include Benn or Seguin.

Honestly I prefer your side with those cats, don't let a slow start result in a panic move.

I like the RNH side but it seems pretty even to me. I think Weber will miss Suter the rest of his career

Personally, I don't feel RNH is worth more than Getzy now...and perhaps moving forward. Yes RNH centers what should be a dynasty line moving forward, but with Getzy and Perry both in contract years...imagine if they both pull a Bosh and Lebron and sign together somwhere?
Perry / Getzy / Kessel Perry / Getzy / Zetterberg Perry / Getzy / Spezza Perry / Getzy / Ryan (if they stay)? What I'm getting at is that I feel you're undervalueing Getzy especially knowing you'd have to grossly over pay to get RNH. Shaktenkirk I do like over Weber even with your cats! But not enough to over pay...as I agree...Getzy and Weber will not land you those two studs. Maybe consider a different angle.

I think the only place Perry and Getz sign together is Anaheim. Dynasties like that don't work in the NHL. LBJ, Bosh and Wade all play about 85-90% of their games. Any NHL forward plays 35% at most per game, can't have anywhere near the same type of impact.

Apples to oranges. NBA... Scores are 30 to 50 times more than hockey scores. If a line playing 33% of the game (roughly 20 mins) can combine for 2 or 3 goals alone per game...and that line takes over the former #1 line who drops to line 2 but still intact because they don't have to give up anything for free agents...and that line is still good for the 1 or 2 goals themselves ... That's called a dynasty my friend. You can't compare the two sports.

There is no such thing as a dynasty in the NHL. Too competitive. Pens are the closest thing to it based on talent and they wont ever win B2B cups

Quote:
Pittsburgh's success is stemming out of the success of #1 over all picks Crosby, MAF and Malkin (#2 actually). Then they are surrounded with good talent, but by no means great. Flanked by guys like Neal, Kunitz, Dupuis, Kennedy the other guy and the other guy (my point)...and Letang and Martin(blah) and the other guy and so on...They've managed to do amazing things over the past 6 years and acheive a label of "CLOSEST THING" by you who don't believe there will ever be Dynasty's in the NHL. In my opinion, while Edmonton's stars may never quite reach the elite status of Crosby and Malkin, Hall and Yakupov have been discussed in the same breath...("next best thing since"...type comparative statements by scouts during their respective Drafts. As edmonton grows (and they've locked up most of their core, the comparitive lines look as follows. Argueably the #1 Lines: PITTSBURGH LW - Kunitz (Undrafted) C - Crosby (#1) RW - Kennedy (99th) vs EDMONTON LW - Hall (#1) C - Nugent-Hopkins (#1) RW - Eberle (22nd) PITTSBURGH LW - Dupuis (Undrafted) C - Malkin (#2) RW - Neal (33rd) vs EDMONTON LW - Hemsky (13th) C - Gagner (6th) RW - Yakupov (#1) While I'd give props to Crosby and Malkin as the best 2 Centers across the 2 lines, RNH and Gagner are not bad consolation prizes. Then give me each of Edmonton's Wingers over any of the Penguin wingers moving forward. Oh...and Compare Letang and Shultz (wash...both potentially rumoured for Canadian Olympic Team) Then Whitney vs Martin....(Wash in the long term, and that's only because Whitney has kinda underacheived). What I'm getting at, is that I believe Edmonton has a greater POOL of talent and team depth, which is whats needed to develop a dynasty. It took consecutive years to achieve this, but we haven't yet seen the best of Edmonton...they're simply getting better and have their core locked up for 3 years plus. That equals POTENTIAL DYNASTY to me. Oh...and back to my original topic...Should Perry and Getzlaf choose to sign together...and say they decide to exercise their control and land in one place like Bosh and Lebron did... perhaps Edmonton...the oilers would only have to make room and clear cap space (see ya Gagne, See ya Hemsky, see ya Horcoff, See ya Khabibulin). Same goes for Toronto or even Ottawa. Adding 2 elite talents, and only requiring salary shed by maintenance of your existing upper talent...can have a great positive impact on a team. Hmmm...a 2nd line of Perry - Getz - Yakupov to compliment Hall - RNH - Eberle? NOT THAT THIS WILL EVER HAPPEN...just trying to argue my point...and pretty fun to consider. I totally feel that dynasty's are possible, we just haven't seen one in a while!
