Default Mueller/Marleau for Ott/Conacher

Team and league settings are in my signature. I'm at or near the top in every offensive category except PIM, so thought Ott would help in that area (as well as improving my LW depth). This trade is more about Marleau for Conacher, though. I've been trying to move Marleau for about the last 2 years before he begins to really lose productivity and value. I've tried moving him 1 for 1, as the centerpiece of a multi-player deal, as a complimentary part to a multi-player deal... the response has almost always been "not interested in Marleau at this point." I wanted to capitalize on his ferocious start, and was hoping Conacher could be a potential, younger target who will also be productive for me now. Also, he still doesn't have name recognition, so thought he might be attainable in return for the "unwanted" Marleau. Thoughts on the deal?

Honestly in a league without fw and hits Otts value takes a real hit, lots of options if you want pims. Mueller imo a non factor. So basically Marleau for Conacher.
I would choose Marleau. Aim higher.

I'm definitely not denying that Marleau brings more immediate value than Conacher in my league. Just trying to keep an eye into the future, the next 1-3 years. I see Marleau dropping off in that time, so trying to replace him with a comparable-yet-younger asset.

Obviously, part of my brain agrees with you, though, or else I would have just done the deal rather than ask you fine folks!

I see your point, but I think its impossible to judge Conachers production in 3 year. Is he consistent threat for 70-80 points a season?

There lots of guys younger than Marleau who will probably maintain a threat for 70-80 point per season. Moulson (as long as he is paired with Tavares) for example. If you want to bet on young talent I prefer someone like Tarasenko, high draft pick and the ability to create his own offense.

I take the Marleau and Mueller side rather easily. The only great thing Ott brings is PIM, and the ability to contribute in the other areas better than the typical goon, IMO not worth when giving up a proven solid producer like Marleau. Conacher is a good young player but again I wouldn't want him in exchange for Marleau. Mueller is also far from a bad option, especially in a 15 man league, where the free agents out there won't be as good as him, Mueller is starting to look real good for the Panthers, and he's still young with a bright future if he can dodge injury.
