Benn + Pavelski for Ovechkin
League in sig.
I'm trying to pull off a 2-for-1 deal so I can bring Rask up from my farm team, but I'm not sure if this overpaying. Traditionally, my guess would be that this would be cheap for a member of 'The Big 3,' but it seems as though the tides have changed for Ovie. I won our league last year - thanks, in large part, to the injuries to Malkin and Crosby - and I'm currently leading the league right now. BUT, does this trade help me or hurt me this season? What about long term? Thanks, Dobber Nation!

Not worth it. I'd much rather have Benn and Pavelski over Ovechkin in a dynasty league. This could be worth it if Ovechkin gets back to the level he once was but those days are so far behind and his game isn't what it was back then anymore.
If you want room for Rask, move Voracek for a pick or something like that. Much better option than give up two great player for Ovechkin - who at this point isn't much better than either Pavelski or Benn is.

Ovechkin is like the Canucks goalie situation.
When he scores, everyone thinks he's great. When he doesn't, he's "past his prime". When Luongo loses, everyone says trade him. When he wins everyone says "Louuuuuuuu ..." You have to do what you think is best for your team. Having said that, see if you can get something added from his side. If not, keep what you have. Cheers

It might be because I'm a Benn owner and a little bias but I think it's an overpayment. Benn and Pavelski are two solid players.
But, everyone knows the way Ovi can play, so I don't think you should be upset with yourself if you make the deal. You just carry the risk that he may not get back to that top level he's been at in the past.

Okay, so it sounds like the vast majority of people are not in favour of this deal.
I'm motivated by the fact that I have Rask wasting away on my farm team, so a 2-for-1 deal would open up a spot for him. That being said, I don't want to do something that is going to affect my ability to win this year, or in the future. The way I see it, these are my options: #1 - no trade and leave Rask on the farm #2 - drop Elias or Jagr to bring Rask up #3 - new trade offer (Benn + JoePa for Ovie + 2014 1st rounder, which would be about a 5th or 6th overall pick in our yearly 3-round entry level draft) Thoughts?
