Chara trade
I've been actively looking to move a D for some time now and it appears I've found a partner. It's down to my Chara for his E Kane or Koivu. I'd prefer Kane but if I can't make that happen I think I'm fine with Koivu. Knowing I'll be filling Chara's spot with Schultz what do you guys think about either potential deal?

I got Kessel for Chara in a one year.
I'd hold out for Kane in a Keeper.

I think I would be more inclined to move Phaneuf or Edler for one of those guys. I don't think it's a high enough return for Chara

Either E.Kane or M.Koivu is a pretty good return.
With the point-scoring system, I don't really know which is better. This trade is OK only because you have Schultz to step-in. However, I'd also avoid trading Chara to a competitor... his value may represent a bigger increase to the other team than the increase on your team. Although people somtimes/often talk about improving YOUR team... you also have to avoid improving the teams around you dramatically too.

Thanks for the advise guys, still working with him. Trying to see if I can get more or offer up Phaneuf but it's not looking promising.

You've got great prospect depth so I don't mind the loss of Baertschi. While Chara and Selanne are two of my favorite players, Benn and Pavelski are much younger and should produce huge offensive numebers for you for years to come. Plus, since you have Schultz to call up, this makes it an easier decision. I would pull the trigger on this deal.
