Trade Advice

I've been offered E.Staal for My Eberle. I don't like. Any advice on a potential counter or should I simply reject?

C - Zajac, Ribeiro, Marchand (LW)
RW - Kessel, Horton, Byfuglien (D)
LW - Vanek, Hall, Winnik
D - Enstrom, Markov, Hamilton, Gardiner (IR)

Actually I think it's a solid offer, but fair enough if you value Eberle higher. Out of curiosity, how many fantasy points did they achieve in your scoring system last year?

I think they're fairly comparable, but I prefer Eberle's potential this year with the Oil. If you had FOW as a category in your league, I would have given the edge to Staal.

Stall had 309.3 and Eberle had 300.8. I like both teams this year as upswing teams and having good years, but I valued eberle in my top 10 pre-draft as having a humongous year, whereas stall JUST made my top 25. I also had both players on my squad last year so I don't personally have a bias towards either, but definitely like Eberle for a better fantasy year.

you are not required to trade a player just because another gm wants them

I'm aware of this. I didn't say I wasn't interested in trading Eberle though. I said I didn't like this particular one-for-one offer and asked if anyone thought there was a good counter-offer.

Cool. I wasn't sure how Hits (well Staal didn't have as many as before) and SOG would affect the totals. And obviously Staal had a horrendous +/- so that affected it as well. Eberle is in a good position to succeed and I've read conflicting opinions on where he'll go from here, which is common for young players. I don't have a side, just curious about how they fared in your setup.

As you are high on Eberle, I don't see the point of countering for the sake of countering unless someone really interests you. If nothing jumps out from his squad, then leave it for now. To me, nothing really stands out either unless you like Kessel but that might be more of a sideways move. Good luck.

Simply reject. Staal is his best piece and if that doesnt do it for you than walk away. Trust your pre-season rankings.

yeah sorry I should have been more clear. I like Eberle as a top 10 guy in my scoring format this year. However, I never get emotionally attached to players or peg them as a 'never-trade'. So if the right offer (or in this case, counter-offer) presents itself, I am always open to it if it improves my team. The purpose of this thread was to ask if anyone could see a logical counter-offer where this was the case, as I could not see one right away. I don't consider myself a guru so I wanted to ask the people if I was missing something that the other owner might bite at that would also make my team better, even IF it meant trading Eberle, or if I could offer him something that didn't involve Eberle even that would still have the same effect.
