I know I am feeling a lot more antsy by slow starts than I usually do, and from the forums it looks like lost of owners are. What kind of leagues are you guys in? I think the reason I am feeling a lot more antsy is because when you're in a H2H league, your season has basically been cut in half. Yea it is still 48 games but we've gone from 22-23 weeks of matchups to 11. Each week we lose is worth so much more now. I usually try my best to be patient with a guy off to a slow start (curse you Wheeler) but it is harder just because losing a matchup is a much bigger deal now. What do you guys think?

In a ROTO league, I feel some impatience.
In a H2H league, I feel no rush... I just want to build the best team of talent for H2H playoffs and I have enough confidence in my drafting skills that I will make playoffs. I've got Jamie Benn in two H2H leagues and have no worries. |

With h2h you can have off weeks. Even in a 11 week schedule I you have 3 off weeks but the other 8 you win the matchup, you'll likely still make the playoffs.
This week still goes until Sunday. So there is still 6 days of games left in it. One team of mine put up 8 goals and 13 assists in one day. No lead is guaranteed.

Agreed. I'm extra impatient this year due to the shortened season. I jumped on Tarasenko, dropped Morrow for M. Foligno (prematurely?) and am looking at making some other changes as well.

Heh I've been the opposite. I've had a relitively hot start. I'm now bracing myself for a cool down and to start sliding back down

I think the key is to see how impatient the other owners in your league are. If you see that they are being patient and waiting things out, then you probably can too. If you see that people are starting to make constant roster changes to maximize the number of players they have each night, you need to see if it appears to be working for them and possible follow suit.
I have made a lot of moves this week, but it is more my trying to get line combos and even out a few stat categories I am weak in. I should be able to settle and see if my moves have paid off for the rest of the week and probably next week. The shortened season does make it hard to sit on someone in a slump waiting for them to get on a streak, but remember that the schedule and complications from it is the same for everyone.

I'm getting ansy about Wheeler but I'm in an 8 team league and dropping him might not be as bad as dropping him in a 12 team league. Especially since I could use some help in some categories. But I think I'm going to try to be patent and at least let my players get more than 2 games in.

In a regular season I usually try and wait till around the 10 game mark to make decisions on drops/pickups etc. In this shortened season I don't think you can be that patient but at the very least let each team play 5 or 6 games before making wholesale roster changes.
I won my H2H league last year almost solely because opposing GMs dropped Neal, Hartnell and Seguin within the first 2 weeks of the season because of them getting off to slow starts.

I agree everyone is antsy. We had to wait an extra 4 months for hockey and all of our pent up need to fantasy analysis is rushing out. After 3 seasons of getting burned by being antsy too early, at the start of last year I made a rule that I wouldn't drop any drafted player for 2 head-to-head weeks to get at least a bit of a sample size.
This year I'm giving players the 9-day opening week before dropping because their was good reason to draft each of them but I do need to remind myself daily about my self imposed rule. I'm also in the Wheeler boat but I read good projections for him and so will give him 2 weeks before I debate dumping him.
