Default Markstrom vs. Halak

Team in sig:

I give Markstrom and a forward for Halak. I need a starter to really do something in the playoffs and this is what the manager has countered (originally I did Nabby/Kesler for Halak to start off).

Should I do it? Shop around? Markstrom/Kesler for Halak or something like that? Choose another forward?

With the hits and blocks as categories I would try Zajac and Markstrom and see if he bites. Zajac is playing with Kovalchuk and should be dynamite for the Devils. Wait a week and see if his opinion changes.

Didn't work out. Wants Kesler/Markstrom for Halak. Short-term makes sense, long-term? Depends on how much the Panthers can improve and if Kesler ever returns to form. Is a healthy Kesler a deal-breaker? If Kesler does return to form he's money in this league. I'd rather trade away a pure scorer like Parise, but not for Halak.

I dunno...would a Parise/Markstrom for Schneider be a decent deal? or should Parise be dealt for a more experienced goalie?

I'm worried that Kesler is a declining asset. He's always hurt and it has to catch up to him at some point.

I am a strong believer in Markstrom, own him etc. so I think short term Halak is obviously better, but he may be in sharing position for 2+ more years while Markstrom once he takes over should be the bonafide #1 in Florida...adding Kesler or Parise to the package makes this even tougher for me to agree to...if you were getting Rinne or Quick or that ilk goalie, probably yes, but I think you'd be selling Kesler low for Halak...so I'd have to say no unless you have a great chance to win this year and want to roll the dice long term...

Yeah I'm not completely sold on Halak...so I think I'll just stick out the short season and try to upgrade on toughness (try to completely own the offensive stats). As soon as Kesler is healthy, I might be able to get a little bit more for him. I should be able to make the playoffs, but I guess I can always try to trade for a goalie with one of the teams that is already out.

Thanks guys for the help.
