I am in a 10 team, 20 player league - we are allowed 3 keepers each year 1 of which is a goalie. It is head 2 head that tracks 10 categories (4 goalie cats, W, SV, SV% and GAA). We are allowed 1 goalie keeper each year and mine last year was Mike Smith.
I drafted Ryan Miller, Ilya Bryzgalov and Corey Crawford. So my Goalies are quite good. I don't see myself playing Crawford much if at all because we can only start 2 goalies each day. I picked him up more because he plays for a good team and Byrzgalov could falter again this year which would leave me desperately short on goalies if I only had 3. Do I keep Crawford, drop him or pick up Emery as a hand cuff? Thanks |

How many goalies can you start each day/week?
I'd suggest that it's probably a waste to have four goalies in a league such as this. While it's valuable to have good goalies you can really only play so many in one day so the reduces the value of backups. Maybe quickly shop Bryz/Crawford and if nothing comes available dump Crawford.

There are no goalie start limits, but I need to have at least 3 goalie starts per week and can start 2 per day.

3 starting goalies it plenty. The odds are that someone is lacking in the position so I'd fire up some talks with them to see if you can score an upgrade elsewhere on your roster. I wouldn't drop him since having that kind of depth in net should give you nice leverage with a GM in need.

Yes, 3 goalies is plenty... but Emery (as hand-cuff) is a smart hedge-move, IF (big IF) you can spare the extra bench slot. Chicago has a super schedule with a ton of Sunday games -which is great in daily leagues, especially in H2H. Chicago was apparently looking for a goalie in the off-season, so the leash with Crawford will be tight.
As a Crawford owner myself, I scout his games (more than any other player I own) like a... (wait for it)... hawk! As soon as he flubs a single game, go grab Emery. |

Yeah I agree.
I checked the league and there are two teams that are a little lacking goalies. I have put some feelers out to see what I can get for one of my goalies. |

To some degree, I am not sure I can even afford to keep 4 goalies because there are still some good players on the WW and 1-2 extra starts per week might be invaluable. Unfortunately with goalies, bad starts really hurt in this league since two stats are cumulative and 2 are averaged. So having 4 goalies can really only help 2/10 stats unless they are consistent performers. Besides that Vokoun is still on the WW and he seems like he would be a great pickup given that MAF sometimes struggles and the league is compressed so backups will probably get more love this year than normal. |
