Do you think that Hedman will ever be an offensive defenceman in the NHL?

Yes. Hedman is solidifying his defensive game right now. Once he has that down pat, I see him increasing his point totals year after year. It could actually be as soon as this year.. Last year he slumped but played pretty well defensively so I think this could be the start of his rise to offensive stardom.

Yes. His numbers at a young age in Sweden demonstrate an offensively gifted player, his NHL numbers so far are solid and his KHL numbers were awesome this season. He is only 22 years old, which is basically a puppy in terms of a defenceman. Be patient if you are an owner and you will be rewarded.

This should help:
Victor Hedman – After being the second overall pick of the Lightning in 2009, Hedman entered the NHL with massive expectations and although his points-per-game rate has improved in each of his three NHL seasons, he has yet to surpass five goals or 26 points. While some may write him off as a defense-first player lacking in skill, the immense Swedish blueliner has found his offensive game in Russia, registering 20 points in just 24 games for Barys Astana. The talented rearguard celebrated just his 22nd birthday this week and given the typical learning curve for NHL defensemen, there’s plenty of improvement on the way for him. That was posted back on Dec, 12 of 2012. The potential and skill is there.

Thanks guys. I've been offered a 1st rounder for him but we protect 11 so you get the high end rookies and some good players. If I deal him though I would be left thin on D for the season. Just weighing the options.
Thanks for the input so far.

If you're just looking at this season, I don't expect him to break 35 to 40 at the most. However he could be in the 45 to 50 range in a couple of years. How good are the 1st round picks? Is it the entry draft or for anyone?

Nope, I don't think so. Galy is worth much more than that. Personally, it's very rare that I'd move a future top centre and potential star forward for a D prospect.

I agree. Hedman will likely have more value on real ice than on any fantasy team.

I aquired him this summer for a third rounder. Everything I read on him leads me to believe he will eventually produce offensively.
