Default Boyle/Selanne FOR Giordano/Stepan

Trying to make a run, but not really wanting to mortgage the future.

I'd get the Boyle end. I'm sure it looks like a slam dunk accept, BUT hear me out...

Re Teemu, I think that in a 48 game sched, he puts up 40-45 points. Stepan will likely put up 33-38 points if he plays top PP (which I think he will). So for about 10 points I basically toss Stepan away for nothing. I would never do it straight if offered, so then onto the D...

I love Danny B, but when I saw that Gio put up the same amount of goals (9) that Boyle did, but did it in TWENTY less games, I took a step back. Our league is goal heavy and I see Boyle putting up 8-10 goals (over a full season), and think Gio will easily put up 10-15 goals while playing on the top PP with Wideman. So I am wondering if I am really getting the pop at D to justify losing one of my young guns.

Kinda leaning towards standing pat, cause in a short season, I am not sure the bump of Boyle>Gio is worth losing Stepan for 40 games of Teemu. Ideally, I'd hope that my players were relatively close in points, and I get to keep the youth in Stepan if I just stood pat.

Still, for some reason, I keep thinking I should do it.

Appreciate any advice on this one

I would stand pat, Gio is coming off of a down year and Stepan is poised to breakout if I can even say that having posted 51pts in only his second season. He'll be on Gaboriks line to boot. Meanwhile, the oldtimers you'd be getting have little upside so your paying to hope you get full value.

If you're trying to make a run, Selanne/Boyle would be the way to go.

I know, right? That's what I keep telling myself, but when I break down the numbers it looks way more even than I thought.

I'll use the guide's projections, which I think are pretty acurate. I'll also factor in the scoring system in my league in parenthesis.

Stepan: 13-21-34 (47)
Teemu: 17-22-39 (56)

Gio: 7-19-26 (40)
Boyle: 5-27-32 (42)

So, there is a net difference of ELEVEN points (both NHL and my scoring, interestingly). I know that these projections are not carved in stone, but if things go as expected for all players, I have a real hard time tossing Stepan away for 11 points.

Funny, I am the most active trader in my league hands down, but I am very hesitant on this one...

Your team is great. This trade would put you over the top, but honestly speaking you probably don't even need this trade to win, so because of that I wouldn't do the trade. Although if you don't finish first, missing out on this trade would hurt.

I appreciate the vote of confidence, but i am barely a contender, let alone a favourite in our league. This year, there are literally about 10 teams that could win it.

So i would assume you think i should take it and run, eh? Im still torn, but i keep looking at the numbers above and just cant see losing Stepan over an 11 point bump.

Winning now would be worth losing Stepan IMO.

But if you don't think you're a contender and that 10 teams could win it all this year, then I would suggest you stand pat with Gio and Stepan and make a run for it next year instead.
