One year league do you go with unproven sleeper of the year pick Brendan Smith or the proven but disgruntled Islander Visnovsky?
Goals (G), Assists (A), Points (P), Plus/Minus (+/-), Penalty Minutes (PIM), Powerplay Points (PPP), Shorthanded Points (SHP), Game-Winning Goals (GWG), Shots on Goal (SOG), Faceoffs Won (FW)

Smith would be the choice for me. His (small sample size) stats are already decent in the NHL and he's the real deal.
Visnovsky ... well who knows what he's like when he shows up, and what his health will be like. (Ooh I have a cough, I need to sit out...) |

while vis is a proven nhl player i am not sure i would qualify him as proven in terms of stats
even if you take age and lack of desire to be with the islanders or in the nhl into account the guy has been pretty all over the place with his production through his career |

From Rotoworld: "According to two people familiar with the situation, Lubomir Visnovsky may need about two to three weeks to resolve his family issue before he could return to the Islanders."
So given this and the fact that you count PIM, I'd go for Smith.

If you have a deep, deep, deep bench... hold Vis.
But most leagues only have 3-5 bench slots and there is too much value lost by keeping a non-playing player in one of those slots. I'd go with B.Smith. |

Thanks everyone, I had dropped Stefan Elliott for Smith in this league recently but wasn't sure if Vis would be a better option. I guess the consensus is no. Much appreciated as always.

You did the right thing, Vis is too much of a wild card.

While Visnovsky is a wild card, I'm not completely sold on Smith... No Lidstrom anymore which helps him, but he's also got Kronwall, White, Quincey and probably Colaiacovo and Ericsson ahead of him in the depth chart this year. I'm not too familiar with his play though, so I'm just calling it like I see it.
