Trading Stamkos??

There's a team in this league that has some great players I'm interested in. Tavares, Benn, Eberle and to a lesser extent Horton, Kessel and Burrows.

Anyway, I really think there is a good chance that Tavares and Benn take the next step this year and solidify themselves as true fantasy studs in the tier just behind the elite guys.

I was considering offering Stamkos/Clowe/Tarasenko for Tavares/Benn/Eberle. Is this a fair offer or am I asking for too much/not enough for Stamkos. The other two are quality players on their own.

I'm worried I may just be itching to do some trading since the lockout dragged on so long.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks guys!

I think it's a fair offer, but I'd be hard pressed to trade Stamkos.

List your 15 keepers before and after the trade. That's the best way to evaluate it.

I guarantee that my team will change significantly between now and then, but you're right, it's a good exercise nonetheless.

C - Malkin, Stamkos, Backstrom
LW - Zetterberg, Datsyuk
RW - Backes, Skinner
D - Chara, Boyle, Shattenkirk
G - Rask, Schneider, Anderson

Last 2 spots would be between Clowe, Tarasenko, Atkinson, Girardi.

Keepers if I made the trade would be
C - Malkin, Backstrom, Tavares
LW - Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Benn
RW - Backes, Skinner, Eberle
D - Chara, Boyle, Shattenkirk
G - Rask, Schneider

Last spot would be a toss up between Atkinson, Girardi and Anderson.

As a Stamkos owner, it would take the moon to take him away from me.

I do agree that Tavares/Benn/Eberle is one tasty package but the best player in the trade would remain Stamkos.

Plus, Tavares, Benn and Eberle are all the same kind of players which will get you goals, points and shots but not much in +/-, PIM and hits. Your depth in those latter categories would probably be hurting after that trade.

Anyway, to the point, it's a fair offer and I'm sure the other owner will look strongly at it so if you want to do it, you can.

It's a nice roster right now... but Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Benn, AND Backes could all open in a future season as C-only.

I love the Tavares/Benn/Eberle side in this trade, but you do have to think about what will happen in the future if fantasy websites start correctly pegging players at just C, where they belong.

It'd be hard to trade away Stamkos, But you have Malkin and If you can get that return, I think it would be a good trade for you.

On the other hand, I don't know if I would give away these 3 guys for Stamkos, clowe and Tarasenko...

I would take that deal as well.
If I were the other owner though, no way I would part with Benn/Eberle/Tavares.
I agree that Tavares will get to Stamkos value very soon.
I agree that Benn and Eberle are going to be elite as well.

Great point Pengwin7. I really hadn't thought about it and that could be very scary if Yahoo decided to correct that.

MarmotKing and Stunaman, I agree I have my doubts he would accept this offer but I know he's interested in Clowe and Tarasenko. But he's been building this team patiently for years.

I traded him Tavares a few years back along with Bogosian and a 7th round pick for Marc Savard (pre-concussion), Chara and a 1st. It was a steal for me and helped win me the championship. But it shows how high he is on Tavares,

I've put Stamkos on the block to see what kind of offers roll in for now and specifically e-mailed that manager to see if he is interested.

Other than that package, I doubt I would move Stamkos unless I got an offer including one of the big 3 goalies.
