KHL president makes case against NHL contracts
We will be able to call this the Kovalchuk Clause:
Igor Kleyner@IgorKleyner "KHL pres Medvedev makes case that existing NHL contracts may not be binding because they are under new CBA, thus players may walk if chose" Igor Kleyner@IgorKleyner " looks like if players want to claim new CBA unilaterally alters their NHL contracts and want to void them KHL will go to battle for them" I cant find any direct links to a statement from Medvedev nor do i know anything about Igor Kleyner; either way it is another interesting twist in the Visnovsky and Kovy Saga's

IIHF won't honor that. That's going to be the big slam against guys doing that. Kovalchuk is a lock for Sochi 2014. If he does this, he can't play. He wants to be there.

once the players ratify the new cba, his argument dies...
but man, wouldn't the devils be screwed if kovie didn't come back. they lose parise, then all of the bs with kovie and the fines and lost draft picks that came with it... now, if he stayed in russia. wow. i actually wouldn't care either way, but it would be a hard pill to swallow for the devils and their fans.
