offer for my rask

hey dobberites need a hand on long term outlook of this potential deal.

a fellow gm came to me with an offer of

his varlamov + mcneil + kuhnackl

for

my rask

now instantly i say no, but i did send a couple counters (over PM so no risk of accepting/rejecting a deal im not sure i will ultimately do.)

its a dynasty league as well with 2 starting tendy spots.

i have halak + lindback as well i have ramo on the farm.

he has kipper + varly + anderson so he is aging in net.

for his varly + gally


or

rask + kunitz or JVR (kunitz mildly outscored (fanpts) landeskog last season, i gave him the choice tho of youth and also my most unproven lw in jvr)

for

varly + landeskog


am i undervaluing/overvaluing rask's talent/value ? my lw are nash, kunitz, jvr, datsyuk, kulemin(dual eligible so hes a great 7th winger on my squad with decent upside if he gets back to his 30/30 range.)

A few things to dissect here. You start 2 goalies, daily or weekly?? How many teams?

You own Rask, Halak, Lindback and Ramo correct?

What is your goal of accomplishment in this deal? Improve wingers? I'd be looking to maybe trade Lindback for help, before I shop Rask.

If you can only keep one goalie then trading Rask makes no sense unless both players coming back are also good keepers as well.

With Halak and Lindback, I wouldn't be so quick to trade rask. Landeskog is good, but I'd rather have Rask. My big question is you don't know how Lindback is going to do in TB this year. If he struggles, you'll really wish that you had Rask.

each category is evenly weighted, and correct those are my 4 tendys, i have more but they are projects, however they look good. oh and i have khudobin rask's handcuff.

i never planned on trading rask really, but i am trying to get a bit younger on lw (kunitz, dats, aren't getting younger). Gally would serve that purpose. landeskog would make me younger on lw.

i havent shopped lindback much but when i have there has not been great interest. i figure it will be like that until we know if hes the real deal yet. like i said he came to me with the offer i figured it was worth a counter or two. he had just shot me down on the gally front prior to his offer.

I like the Landeskog deal above all the other ones you listed. As it stands its the only one I would make. McNeil and Khunackl aren't anything to write home about so in that deal I would keep Rask. If he goes for the Landy deal, I would take that whether he wanted Kunitz or JVR. Fair warning to you though, I'm extremely biased against Toronto players and in general do not want them on my teams.

In your signature it says keep five players plus a goalie, if that's a case none of the deals make any sense for you, especially with Rask being your best goalie and there being a designated spot for a keeper goalie.

The original deal offered to you is bad, regardless of the league being a limited keeper or otherwise, and you were absolutely in the right to counter offer it.

Rask for Varlamov and Galchenyuk is a bad deal for you in a limted keeper league as you down grade in goal, and Galchenyuk won't help you nor would he be a part of your keep five. Now in a full keeper Galchenyuk becomes a much more interesting piece in the trade; and making the deal is pending how good your chances of winning in the short, and how you feel about your current goaltending. Personally I don't like your goaltending enough in a 12 team league to be getting rid of Rask.

The second offer you proposed is interesting, and as good as landing Landeskog would be, it's much like the deal involving Galchenyuk, where I don't think it justifies losing your best goalie and leaving you thin with just Halak and Lindback.

I really think you should hold onto Rask. He is on the verge of becoming a dominant goalie for you

I don't mind the Rask for Landeskog/Varly deal...or even the Gally deal....but what I don't like is how that leaves you in net. Just because it's a fair deal doesn't mean it's good for your team. In a 12 team league, or even a 14 team, having only Varly, Halak, and Lindback doesn't give me confidence in my net.

How close are you to contending? Are you in a win-now mode? Based on the LW you listed, I assume you are? I think I'd likely keep Rask...if you're going to be stripping your team down to nothing (unlikely, I assume), then I'd possibly do the Gally/Varly deal. If you're in a win-now/soon, the Landeskog/Varly deal would be my top choice, if I HAD to...

What is your goal to accomplish with this deal, improve you wingers? If I were you, I'd take Lindback or Halak plus a Leafs winger and upgrade.

Rask is quite valuable on the trade market now, so maybe this is your opportunity to capitalize on selling high if you are rebuilding by stripping everything down... I guess it depends on how long of a rebuild you are looking at, but like I said before I assume you're not going to be rebuilding, so this doesn't matter then.

Otherwise, stay put with Rask and try to trade one of your other three...I'd start to see what I could get with Lindback and a winger...and then if there's no luck, I'd go with Halak...Halak also has quite sizeable value.

thank you everyone for the responses, you assured me that i was correct in building my net from rask out(halak is a great compliment). i will try the suggestions of lindback + winger, i also have ellis to dangle since i have letang, yandle, and rielly as offensive dman. i just think that rielly will have better forwards to feed off of then ellis, not to mention i think he may be more talented. most of my dman are just for hits and blocks, i do have 2 or 3 for some offence off the back end tho.

to any who thought it may be a limited keeper... im actually in like 12 leagues or something that are all keeper. not enough room in the sig for them all so i just put some of the first ones i joined. its a 12 team DYNASTY that im referring to in these rask deals.

i also offered stepan for gally. he had said prior it would take my granlund for his gally but im thinking he may bite b/c stepan is producing and he's in the middle of the pack, could give him a nice piece to go for it. stepan ranks as a top 25 center in our league. im not rebuilding nor am i a solidified contender, its murky in our league as we were supposed to play this season as our first. i would say if most of my guys pan out as they look to whenever hockey starts up again, then i should have a shot at top 5 for sure.

My goal is to acquire in this center heavy league, the best 6-7 centers i can for the format. most wont move the top guys period. however i do have bergeron, stepan, roy, datsyuk, grabovski, sutter, brassard, granlund at the moment. not the most star studded, but actually one of the deepest center collections in the league. now i need quality over quantity.
