Default Thoughts on Pekka Rinne This Season?

I don't know if this has been discussed here yet, but how much does everyone think Suter's departure will affect Rinne's numbers? Is he still in the same league as Lundy and Quick? Reason I'm asking is I've been debating putting a package together involving Rinne for one of those other tenders in my league this year. Am I making too much of Suter's absence?

Rinne will be fine. His stats for this coming year are still expected to be top 3as far as wins and SOs goes. Rinne should see the most starts of the three and get the second most wins (behind Lundy). I think Quick gets the fewest wins of the three (32-34) but leads the way in SOs. In your league, all three are golden and will put up big time numbers. Lundy, Quick and Rinne would be my top 3. I would look to move Rinne, but wouldn't blow up my team to try to land one of the other two...

My predictions are based upon a full 82 game schedule..

I don't see a major regression for Rinne's numbers. Suter's gone, but I expect one of Blum, Josi, or Ellis will take the next step. Nashville is deep on quality defencemen, and it's a system thing more than pure star-power.

Hang onto Rinne.

In a points league, Rinne is alright, not a top 3 guy but bubble top 5. I would make a play on his good name for Rask or Schneider and see if you can get something thrown in by the other guy.

I'm one of a few who thinks Rinne will struggle a bit more.
Suter was a very solid defenseman. It's not just Suter's absense, but it also affects Weber's play, because he'll have to adjust to a new partner.

Here's some good reading on discussion of top 5 goalies for the coming year.

I'm on board with this comment...

I can see his GAA and SV% suffering, but only minorly... maybe down 0.20 and down.010... not huge losses in the whole scheme..

I think winning rate should be normal for him and not suffer due to loss of Suter... and shutout rate shouldn't take a hit as he is still a knock out goalie on some nights...

Personally I'd like to see Nashville role back his games by 5-10 keep him fresher as he ages especially for the post season , but with Chris Mason added, I don't see coming... and Jeremy Smith, Magnus Hellberg coming don't seem like they will eat many games themselves at this point...

Maybe losing Suter hurts a bit but he's still Pekka Rinne.

Rinne will have one bad game and almost everyone will flip out. "OH NOES, WITHOUT SUTER RINNE SUX" Fact of the matter is, the Predators chose to lockup Rinne for a reason...the man is an all-star.

Nashville is used to losing important defenseman on the backend. Kimmo Timonen, Dan Hamhuis and now Ryan Suter. Luckily for Nashville they have an excellent scouting department, churning out the likes of Ryan Ellis, Roman Josi and Mattias Ekholm. Jonathan Blum may have hope yet. I believe until proven otherwise, the top 3 fantasy goalies are Lundqvist, Rinne and Quick, period.

Heading into the season, I still have Rinne pegged as being a Top 3 Fantasy goalie.

In a league where only wins and shutouts are counted I don't see his numbers dropping. Rinne is going to get almost every game which will do wonders in the accumulation of wins.
