Thought I'd start a thread for this match. Canada leads 2-0 after the first period. Subban's been solid.

He sure has looked solid. Much, much better than the previous two games. Strome and RNH really are getting it done for Canada.

I think he's found the zone. Maybe he just has a tough time getting up for the "weaker" opponents.

Trouba is such an amazing player. He's made a half dozen incredible plays that period alone.

Team USA does not have anywhere near the level of talent Canada does up-front. This is a significant mismatch based on forward talent, sadly and it shows on nearly every shift.

I think the mismatch of size is even more glaring. They can't get anywhere near Subban.

MacKinnon should have been left off the team based on the way he is being used. Not enough ice time and not in the right role in this tournament. I'm really not sure why him and Drouin are not given ice time together. Short tournaments like this are where experience playing together seems key.

Not a very exciting second period.

EDIT: TSN mouths saying they are playing together more now. I noticed one shift (which was a good one) but didn't think it was a regular thing.

With just 11 forwards they are getting the odd shift together and every single time it seems they generate some sort of offensive opportunity. I agree that he doesn't really have a role though because they don't trust him enough to play big defensive minutes and there's pretty well no room for him in the top six.
